| What do you expect out of the game? Im hoping Leeds can put together more than 40 minutes of good Rugby on Friday but its always a tough place to go is your patch. Maybe the odd 4 in it.

Im assuming that means you're not confident?
I just feel that you will raise your game for us just as we seem to have timed it for this tough month where we have Wigan, you, Catalan, you again and Bradford (although that should be a walk in the park looking at them now )

| Well we have had a few warm up games, so its time to see what we have in our team. Were not looking to slick so I wouldnt be to surprised if we got beat. Big game, big test, lets see if our boys step up at this early stage of the season and give us fans a boost oh what so far is a flat year.
Given the option of a win on Friday night, or a win in the CC at Headingley, I would go for the CC win anyday.

Snap.
The league isn't lost in one game (Grand Final aside obviously), but the CC is. CC win over this one for me too.

| TBF we have not been slick at all until Friday either. But Burrow is back now and he single handedly took Wigan apart in that 1st half. Also Leeds have (from nowhere) started playing deep in attack. One instance on Friday the PTB was on the 20 and the far winger was stood on the halfway, and that IMO was why Burrow and McGuire were so good. Given room they can kill any team so I hope this deep attack continues.
As for the CC I wouldnt mind a trip to Wembley this year but I would prefer the SL title out of the 2. Friday means nothing in the scheme of things though... it's just good to get bragging rights though

| I've very little confidence of a win against Leeds on Friday given our performances to date, especially since Leeds seem to have hit form (Damn! Couldn't they have waited another couple of weeks!). And I'm not talking about our youngsters either. If it was just the youngsters who were dropping balls and making errors and showing no flair in attack then I wouldn't be concerned: that's all part of learning the trade. But our senior players (with individual exceptions in individual matches) are playing in a similar fashion and so I have very little confidence of a win against Leeds on Friday.
I'm still going to the match, though, and will be cheering and shouting and generally doing my thing as usual. I'd be happy at this stage in the season just to watch a match in which we show something of the qualities we had last season. After all, we're pretty much the same team.

I hope you're right. It would be great if you were as we would then no doubt see a fine performance, whatever the final score, which would make me happy, for one.

Leeds by two scores by full time IMO.

| I think it'll be pretty close in the end. Saints will raise their game for this one. I remember last year when we'd lost 2 or 3 on the bounce and we went into the first Leeds game with no confidence at all. Some were predicting cricket scores. At least we go in this time with a couple of wins behind us and our defence is solid as a rock. Our attack will have to improve quite alot if we're to be competitive and hopefully it'll be a fairly dry track.

Part of me thinks we may do okay, part of me saying Leeds are too strong.
I fancy Leeds by 10.

| This is going to surprise a lot of you on here.
I think Saints will win.
If any of you still have Fridays game on sky+ or dvd or tape watch it again.
Leeds first try, came first from a fortunate 40:20 (the ball took a wicked bounce to the touchline, then Hall loses the ball in the tackle but fortunately it went back, then the pass from Sinfield is very debatable as if it was forward.
Their second try was down to the inexperience of young Ainscough (hopefuly he'll learn)
The third try was never a try, Kirke passes the ball forward and it crosses the 20 metre line, hits the ground before Donald picks it up before passing it on to Burrow who scored.
The referee can't go to the video ref for the forward pass but if the ball goes forward and hits the floor then it's a knock on, which the video ref can give.
Another of the Leeds tries came when Hock lost the ball, except he didn't it was stolen.
Early in the second half Wigan had two tries disallowed, the first one quite rightly for offside, but the second one the Leeds player made the wrong decision and took O'Loughlin who wasn't even moving.
Then Leeds got the benefit of the doubt try when the referee was stood no more that two metres from the players with a clear view. (I don't know if it was or wasn't a try but the ref was in the best position to make the decision)
Saints will not give Leeds the same amount of ball that Wigan did, and they will not get that many favourable decisions away from home.
Saints by 8 points.

This is the key point for me. I think we are perfectly capable of giving Leeds just as much ball as Wigan did, again based on performances so far. We are not keeping hold of the ball as we did last season, we are not attacking with flair and creativity and we are not kicking well (though to be fair we have been consistently inconsistent in that regard, so that much probably hasn't changed!). Whether this is just early season jitters or new coach phenomenon or too many youngsters all playing at once or a sign of things to come I don't know, but up to now, even though we have won 4 out of 5 (and on paper we look better than this time last year given our losses back then), we just don't look anywhere near the team we were when we are on the pitch.
I hope Potter and the lads pull it out of the bag on Friday, obviously, but I'm just not confident that they will given that there haven't really been any signs of it so far.

I'm going to agree with you here Ablett, the grapple tackle expert, runs into O'loughlin and immediately sticks up his hands for the penalty. Cheating scum bag.
