| "Alongside" Jimmy Lowes. I wonder how long it will be until Jimmy hands in his resignation?

| Could well be the best thing to happen to the Wolfs.
How many times have we said that?
But Smith has a track record, and given time could make Warrington a force.

| Another good coach to be ruined. Wigan and Wire go head to head to be the Newcastle of rugby league.
On the other hand if he does the job, good luck to him

| Good move bringing Smith in, but it seems a bit gutless keeping Jimmy on. They should never have appointed him in the first place.

| Smith was probably they could bring in under the circumstances. He will turn them around, without doubt.

He has a very good record as a coach, but I wonder what results are required for him to stay for any length of time? What league position? What honours?

They should never have appointed him Head Coach, he deserves to continue his developmnt as assistant. There is nothing gutless in showing a bit of loyalty and keeping him on.
Plenty of clubs sack people, that's not guts.

I think its a poor decision. I can't think of any other club in sport that has prospered by demoting the head coach and still keeping him on. Usually it ends up a temporary measure. It would have been much easier to start a fresh.

| Sounds as though Jimmy Lowes is just keeping the seat warm for when Smith turns up full time.
Jimmy Lowes started of well then when the honeymoon period was over the club and the players went back to there old ways.
As already metion Wigan and Warrington don't look as though they will never get the right formula to run a successful rugby club.

Wigan have had the formula for many, many years! They may not have it now, but they will again sometime. (probably not under Noble though)

| Great appointment for the Wolfs. For the first time in Super League they've actually gone for somebody decent. Congratulations to them and it looks like Despo might have to start sweating again lol.

I would say this signing by the wolfs is their best yet, and could see them in a quarter final by 2010 !

Smith is obviously happy to have Lowes working for him, and Lowes won't get anything better let's be honest. He will be learning from one of the best coaches in the league, and he would be stupid to blow this chance.
Last year he was working under Cullen, who did a decent job but never stepped up and won anything, now he is working under a succesful trophy winning coach.
