I am suspicious this whole thread is trolling.

But for me he is looking a very poor appointment. People say he was brought in to develop a squad. Coaches in SL have no input into squad development, the big men on the board make those calls these days and Potter just gets to coach whoever turns up to training.

He was given a hard job, a team being stupidly taken apart through retirements and departures of so many senior players not being replaced. But despite this the team hasn't played well consistently at any time this season. I can only think of the Leeds games and away to Bradford and Cas as games where I've come away thinking we've played well. The home games in particular have been turgid struggles and although we're top we are not anywhere near the level Anderson had us at in recent seasons. This doesn't bode well for the playoffs at all.

Potter has failed his first big test but why replace him? Who else could win anything with the squad and the injuries we've got?

The problem with us trying to play like Catalan is they had good big hard working pack but all we got is the 1 man pack in James graham

But i wonder what anderson would have done with the benefit of the dearth of talent coming through that anderson didnt have at his disposal.pansy's catalan style is written large on saints and yes we are top of league in a year when no sides have been to my mind exceptional

What a complete waste of time this thread is. The club will never ever consider replacing Potter. He's been brought in to do a job, and he will be at the club for some time yet until that job is complete or until he himself decides to move on. So you might as well get used to it, because it ain't gonna change.

You don't need a new coach it was just that he was outcoached by the best coach in Super League.

I cant believe you guys are shouting for a new coach already - you will know if Potter is up to it if he can find adequate replacements for your key players who are coming to the end of their careers - I am sure he will.

Saints problem is that key players are in the twilight of their careers - I am sure this influenced Daniel Anderson's decision to go home.

The main problem is there's too many players getting to the end of their career and other just starting - You couldn't really expect Eastmond to come in and play like Long from day 1, Roby isn't anywhere near as good as Cunningham and that shows when they interchange, Wellens while reliable most of the time is a bit too slow for a top level full back now a days.

Eastmond can't just step into longs shoes and that's same with all the young players. It takes time.

IMO sir mac is taking huge huge gamble by going all out youth.

We should have been bringing in 2 players each year to keep the squad fresh. To many players have been allowed to go with no players coming in.

It's a mistake IMO . We don't know how good dixon, ashurst, dean, lomax and co are going to be and how long it will take them to hit a level we expect.

Then next year we will lose cayless, long, gilmour and maybe kc.

I for 1 have my doubts about all out youth. When the likes of fozzard left we should have brought a like for lime replacment and same with most other players that have left over last 3 years.

Sir mac has never let us down in past so I'm willing to back him.

I think at the same time we are doing Hudds a massive discredit. They played a great game today throwing 3 into the tackle and slowing us down were needed. Players stood up and were counted and that did them the biggest favour in the end.

They also did a great job on Gardner too!

Yes we have players in their twilight and yes we have players carrying knocks but top of the league and to get this far in the CC most teams could only dream of.

This thread is a utter disgrace. For christ sake we have reached a Challenge Cup Semi Final and are currently sitting at the top of Super League. What more do you people want exactly??? We lost today because we were outplayed plain and simple. I am not using injuries as an excuse as everybody has them but I am sure if Cayless, Long and Fa'asavalu had of been fit it might have been a different result.

Just be grateful of what uve got because one day all this sucess will come to an end. Potter is doing a fine job under the circumstances and we all should back him and the team. Get a bloody grip!

Just looking at this and other similiar threads and I dread to think what would have happened and been said if we had won today then lost the final to the Wire
