You want to come onto the Wigan site.
They've managed to get rid of about seven players, the coach, the kitman, the mascot, the lady who makes the tea, the chairman, the groundsman, the medical staff, the barman and the coach driver.
I think that about covers it.
I bl**dy despair at some so called fans.

I dread to think what would happen to alot of our fans if we ever found ourselves in the position that Wigan have been in over the last few years, and it's bound to happen at some point. There'll be people hanging themselves with scarves from the scaff!

You've hit the nail on the head there Rogues they are exactly what you describe fans and not supporters. Supporters get behind causes such as Mike Gregory Steve Prescott etc and that's what the games all about after all the rantings of forward pass gerrem onside have passed. Don't despair every club has it's fans who are the first to criticise. Confidence with players comes from supporters getting behind them and encouraging them.

I think thats harsh.
His form dropped off after he suffered an injury, but even then he wasnt sh*te.
To some extent we have got used to expecting an explosive impact from him, so when his game drops off to the extent that the bang becomes a mere pop, we notice it more than perhaps another player.

| Maurie needs one good game and he will became the animal he once was. As for Frodsham, he isn't ready yet. Sam Burgess proved that.

Why ? There have been plenty of established players whacked by a big hit over the years. I dont see how it ' proves' anything.

Maybe that is the problem, he is playing as a "normal" prop, getting through graft for longish spells, as opposed to coming on as an impact player for a few minutes, and causing some real damage?

I agree. He was bigger, stronger and played less minutes in 2006. That's when Maurie was at his best. We've got Graham, Cayless and Hargreaves who all offer workrate. We need Maurie to play for 25-30 minutes maximum and offer big impact.

| Fa'asavalau didn't have that bad a game on Friday made one high tackle and missed a couple, but that's going off memory. We may have to get used to him not playing as much as an impact prop as he has done previously, the fact that he had 3 or 4 tacklers on him whenever he made a run didn't help, he also played when Warrington were at their best defensively. Hargreaves was a bit of a worry, IIRC he only played the firs 15-20 minutes, was he injured? Potter didn't mention him as such in the post match interview
And those jumping on the 'Burgess showed Frodsham not to be ready' bandwagon, what about the other 6 games he played in SL last year where he made an average of 8 metres per carry?
Do you actually watch the games or just remember the highlights at the end of the tv coverage?

Superb post..
The Frodsham / Burgess tackle was about 8 months ago & is getting very boring now
Or shall we all talk about the Vinnie Anderson hit on Danny Tickle
Maurie is attracting 3 defenders every time he gets the ball, cause teams know how dangerous he can be. Maurie is still a beast & every other team in SL would love to have him in thier squad

| I think the reason for his so-called lack of form is two-fold;
One, he's had a series of niggling injuries over the past 2 seasons and it's plain to see it has affected his form and secondly, if players wind him up and get in to his face then the red mist descends and he becomes ineffective.
Give him some time this season as well as a long, unbroken run in the team, and he'll be back to his best.

| Maurie might not be pulling up trees, but he's far from a waste of a shirt.
He was playing against one of the best sets of props in the league, don't forget.
I too expect Frodsham to come through and take a shirt of one of the current props, but I don't reckon it'll be Maurie.

I don't think Bryn is sufficient quality yet while JC has to prove his fitness - potentially leaves a lot on Graham

I am not convinced that Bryn will ever be good enough to be more than squad fodder.
I think Maurie has been "scoped out" more by opposition defences. Players tend to have hot and cold spells. Maurie is still a good player and will recover form.
Frodsham has been fantastic. Apart from Burgess' cheap shot (yes being 2 metres offside make it a cheap shot) he his looked much stronger than the men he has played against. You have to remember that Burgess is probably the best prop in the world and could do that to anyone. If you don't believe me go on to Youtube and look at his tackle on Moi Moi.
From what i have seen if Yates and Emmitt they are looking good too. Hopefully we will get these kids involved and rest James Graham a bit this season.
