Ohhh chill out. If you want to be all so serious, dont bother posting. For the rest of us that want to revel in Wigans defeat, we can.

I know it's only one game, and we lost our first game at the start of last season, but the manner of the defeat today could well set the tone for Wigan in the weeks to come.

Already the NOBLE OUT threads are starting, Mathers is a waste of space ( from our old friend King Warrior

I've been reading on here all pre season how Wigan are this and Wigan are that....well they have just lost in their first game of the season, at [ihome[/i against mediocre opposition. If ridiculing them after reading the nonsense (including their captain this morning stating what they are going to do) is naive then I am indeed being naive. Any Saints fan who fears Wigan need their heads seeing to, they are garbage, end of. The only way they will beat us, yet again, is if we play pathetically, which we are capable of.

No one is denying your right to gloat fella, just think you could use some brain cells doing so!

We all hate it when their lot and the Leeds boys come and gloat when we lose, all you do posting this tripe is give them ammo for later in the season.

Dude, I dont remember our fans gloating to the extreme like Wigan fans have been doing about how they couldnt fail this year. Just read some of the recent threads on cherry&white. Thats why I am gloating. I am more than aware that we could fall foul too, but until that happens, I am gladlly going to gloat

from what I saw today they lacked a creative spark. They were stood utterly flat in attack at times and near the line they just looked lost. Riddell looks terribly unfit too and they had no real impact off the bench.

Obviously we dont know how we'll fare this year but from what I saw today Wigan wont be in the running for honours although I'm sure they will grind out there fair share of results.

I just think it's so funny that they lost! To be honest, I was expecting them to win given Wakey's injury problems. But to lose at home is just too much for me to cope with. I just have to laugh!

Enjoy it now but the same could happen to us on friday.

Yea but he's a Saints fan on a Saints forum.

It says on telly text something along the lines of:

Like i said i'm not telling/asking you not to gloat at their defeat or anything.

We're in a very privileged position in that we support probably the most consistently successful team in Superleague, one of the two best sides in the competition last season. This allows us a standpoint from which few of us feel the need to 'big ourselves up' for the new season, as we already feel safe that we will be challenging for honours.

Wigan aren't fortunate enough to be in this position these days, but:

A) a with good showing in the playoffs last season.
B) the continued improvements they have made in their league position over the past three years.
and
C) excitement over new signings

I'd suggest its understandable that a proportion of the Wigan fans are getting cocky about their chances of challenging the big two this season, as misplaced as this may be.

i think this year the derby will be much more close and exciting than past games, saints wont win all the matches but if they do it wont be by a large margin, Saints players are old and are losing their fitness and skill.

True but you highlight only part of the sentence and thus took what i said out of context. The point i was trying to make was that gloating about one loss at this stage of the season (on their boards or our own) will invariably be picked up by someone and used against the poster at a later date, especially one who frequents oppositions boards such as Eurob0y. =red(edit: Exhibit A above)

People sadly tend to remember these types of comments over the sensible posts and thus we all get tarred with the same brush.

Wigan were poor today. With a 40% completion rate even Saints would have beat us.



The right hand side was all over the place until they moved O'Loughlin inside the to cover, but by that time we were 10 points down.

We dropped the ball over the line twice, but it would have been an injustice had Wigan won.

Wakefield also had a try disallowed in the second half when IMO the Wigan player knocked the ball back, but the referre (who had a decent game) gave a knock on against Wakey. He was much closer than me but I would have given a try.

On to Hull next week, hopefully minus Coley and Mathers.
