Some very under handed things happen and " maybe" some coaches tell certain players to do certain things in the game.

And sometimes these things win you games.

COYS, I think we are being overly critical of our side, we were as close to winning as you can get, lets see how we shape up in a few months time. With the likes of Gaskell, Clough, Perry all back. It would be very unlucky to be down to the last 15 men 2 times in a row against wigan.

I know you've played the game and without doubt you'll have heard a coach tell a player to smash him everytime he kicks that ball or things to that effect!

Oh yeah , it's true and it happens at all levels of the game. People who think it doesnt are naive

It maybe true just as coaches coach to slow the play the ball. But still does not stop it being a penalty when they push it too far.

I don't think it was a red card, but hooper used to get regular yellows for the same challenges. We did not even get a stoppage in play when the game came back to where the player was injured.

If it had been a long or Tomkins that got taken out, then I guess the reaction would have been different, we would have had rolls and cartwheels to make sure the ref saw it. As is was Wheeler he did not make a big deal even though injured and we got nowt.

It depends on what exactly he has done and what the treatment is. If he's damaged ligaments (which is possible and will probably only show on an MRI) then his season is probably over. I'm due for an op in May to sort out my shoulder and I was told no contact sport for 6 months ...

Good Stuff , play as long as you can because you'll be a long time retired ! I think my bodys given up on me though lol

That may be so, but it doesn't change the fact that had there been another ref in charge, the hit on Wheeler by Hoffman might have been judged as late and a penalty would have been forthcoming. I think it was late, if Wheeler had time to look up before Hoffman hit him (and that is what Wheeler has said).

The game is different now because it is professional, players (correctly) have rights and clubs/the RFL have a duty of care to those players. We can still have our biff and our big hits but they should be played out within the context of minimising what is already a very risky sport for the individuals playing it.
