Then you are saying they should have played for the full 40! If you're not then you are saying we should have been playing without them for a spell of 15 minutes elsewhere in the second half. If you're saying the latter, then what makes you think that the guys left on the pitch when they went off would have been any more effective in defence later in the half than they were straight after halftime?

I know he is saying that. But does he also think that if Simmons had then taken off the big men later, which he might have had to do because they would have been knackered, the team left on the pitch would have stemmed the tide any better than they did during that initial 15 minute spell in the second half? Because they would have had to do so. I'd be interested to know how he would know that the same group of people who couldn't stem the flow in the first 15 minutes of the second half could then go on to do it at a later time in the match, when a comeback would be impossible due to the clock ticking down.

Why not kick it onto touch (or go for goal) and eat the clock up.

I thought they would have gone for the two after seeing Foster taking a few shots from the same point in the pre match warm up.

Listen sweetheart, when you go in against any team at halftime with a slender lead the coach will always tell you that the next 15/20 mins is where this game will be won or lost, they will come out at halftime on fire and we need to put that fire out. We need to weather this storm for the 15/20 mins and it will sicken them! This next 20 will be massive!

I've been in many of teams with that type of team talk.

If we'd had started that 2nd half how we started the game I'd put my house on a saints win.

I'm not getting at you flower but that's how I see it and I feel the 20 mins of the 2nd half cost us the game.

We should have put the ball in touch which would have give us better field position and wasted some time.

I think they were being cautious as with us having our first 4 or so kickers out they were concerned they wouldn't reach touch.

I'm pretty sure foster could have found touch but I agree I think we was concerned we'd not find touch and give the pies the ball.

As I said I didn't understand that decision and the captain must take the blame.

there were other things in the game that went against us, the incident with wheeler being the big talking point. i hope the kid gets back from injury quick as players for stand off are now few and far between for us... however having said that i also thought that when we got the penalty to go 24-22 in front, we should haverun at them and gone for a try or at least forced another set thus tiring their defence out further rather than giving them a breather by taking the two!

however we should have played to the whistle and not have allowed them that stroll in for the win when we looked like we had switched off.

Scott Moore took a nap. If he could have just waited two minutes longer, he could have had a really great sleep in!

Under the letter of the law it was a Penalty and a Sin Binning, it was a late hit. Wheeler had time to look up before he was hit. However, any calls for a banning are an over exageration.

Next we'll be saying only those that play should be allowed to watch and support a team, as the commoner will just bring down the quality of the watching public.

That's a similar arguement that the union types have when league types comment about their game being to technical and not entertaining enough.

although I dont agree with Pete on the Hoffman situation I do think he has a point about playing the game. When you've played you do understand things that someone who's never been out on a field never would and I think it allows you to have a little more perspective on some incidents. That said having played doesnt make you an oracle for all things Rugby and the amount of players who have failed in the transition to coach proves that for me.
