Any news on the injury/length of time out?

I actually thought this was his last year.

However the point remains, the size of his contract is key here. Every year we have a 30 man squad, I think 12 have to be home grown players.

Better to have a quality, injury prone player, than just a player to make up the numbers. But if he's pulling down a big wedge then that theory does not hold.

I have nothing but good wishes for the guy but the club will have to make a decision at some point. Just hope it's the right one for him and the club.

I am gutted for the lad. All you people on here who constantly have a go at him because of his injury record need to get a reality check. Do you think he gets injured on purpose? That he doesn't train to strengthen the week areas to avoid getting injured? This lad has bags of talent but unfortunately his body isn't strong enough for super league. That could change as he gets older but unfortunately Saints can't wait that long and he will probably have to leave. I for one hope he finds a club and a level where he can shine and make a career for himself.

How does saying the situation is a joke (i.e. the repeated injuries) and asking 'how many chances will he get' mean that I am not gutted for the lad? I do not see the connection.

Well I would have said that's curtains for the lad, but I thought his contract was up this year.

Even with a further year to go, his fortunes are going to have to undergo a pretty spectacular change for him to make it at Saints now. I've got my fingers crossed for him, though.

The club said on Twitter that they are behind him all the way so that doesn't sound like they are about to bin him.

4 months puts him out until July, hardly the end of his season. Being an optimist i'd say plenty players have hamstring injuries and its not career threatening so he could easily come back from this and have 3 good months at the important end of the season.

I don't think they'll bin him, I just can't see him stringing enough games together in the last one-and-a-bit seasons of his contract to convince them to gamble on him again. Hopefully he'll surprise us all.

Wasn't one of his long term injuries caused by gashing his leg on an advertising hoarding at Huddersfield? Now that is unlucky.....perhaps only beaten by Veivers putting his back out while putting on is socks before a game!

I really feel for Wheeler, I think he's got the talent, just never had the consistent chance to show it.

Gutting, absolutely genuinely gutting... We can't carry on like this with him no matter how good a talent he is and he needs pastures new next season. Looks like we're stuck with Gaskell instead then...

No he isnt,its allready been posted in this thread that he is here till the end of the 2014 season.

No. But they needn't have tweeted at all. They don't tweet offering sympathy to other players out injured, regardless of length of time out.
