| It was never a try. Defender was touching him so he can't make another move for the try line once his arm touched the floor.
It's an offence to do so, it's cheating (in effect - you are making an illegal move to score a try) so I can't understand why you wouldn't want a penalty in that situation.

| Quote ="Rogues Gallery"Agree, it's an anomaly in the game. Had that been 10 yards out Burgess gets up and scores, no problem. There is no way he was held in the tackle, Hohaia fell off the initial tackle but another Saints player put his hand on Burgess.
Martyn Saddler commented about it in todays League Express, there is no way that should have been a penalty. If the referee can allow the player to play the ball again when he passes the ball after a held call then Burgess should have been at least allowed to play the ball. I can't remember if it was the last tackle, if it was it should have been a handover'"
What on earth are you talking about? It was a double movement, the tackle was complete.
You obviously don't understand the rules.

This would be Wanes opinion if Saints had scored the try. Since it was Wigan, it's an archaic rule that has no grounding in reality and should just of given Wigan the try... Unless someone in the future scores a try against them in a similar fashion, in which case it's the rules and it was totally unfair on Wigan ... Ad nauseam

I think we had a similar scenario can,t remember if it was early this season or last season. We had put the ball over the try line but went to the camera in back play about 50 metres, same thing ball carrying arm hits the floor with a hand on the player, try disallowed.
When we saw Burgess go over at normall speed it looked a try, the replay showed Lance dropping off the tackle but Turner having a hand on him, so it was an easy decision for the video ref, the rules say no try. wane and Sadler can dress it up as much as they want but the the match being on Sky picks out this stuff.
One situation that needs to be addressed is the way Wigan attacks the line with dummy runners, its stops a sliding defence coming across, at the moment its inot classed as obstruction but it should be. If every team starts doing it, then the ref will be having a nightmare trying to work out if there is interference in the play.

| It's always been a hand on the player even since playing as a 8-9 year old, if someone hit the deck, you just put a hand on their back and the tackle was completed.
Only Wigan fans could complain about one of the more long standing rules in the game.

| Nice to see a certain Wigan player using his elbow to good effect again. This time he can't claim the player slipped into his arm.

| Just nice to have a bit of niggle back between these games from the coaches right down to the players, it was completely bland under Potter and the early start to Brown but now he seems to be fighting back.
Good on yer Browny!

Yes Browny has gone up a few notches in my eyes, he's gone into Wanes World of Wugby and reduced Wane to a stutter and exposed the weakness that deep down inside that Wane can't accept a loss, a very bad loser.

| Seriously though, 'the Ape' still has Saints' number, comfortably. He's just thrown a little hook in the water to bring Mrs Brown out of hibernation and it's worked a treat. Brown may have won this round on points but there's a knockout blow coming in October

Haha. I think you'll find it was Brown who dangled the bait and Wane has responded. Don't let the truth get in the way though.....

Your right, it took about 2 months for him to bite, the only problem is Brown threw out out a bigger hook and got Wane post match within 2 minutes. The hook must have damaged Wane, shocked into a stutter.

This is so good. Not only has Brown won over sceptical Saints fans but has hooked and owned Wane at his own game. Even better you are trying to defend him when his ridiculous arrogance backfired against Castleford.
We will worry about October if Wigan are still in the mix............ and that is not arrogance because I think they will be.

£500 is suspended, so its the same (basically)
All it does is prove brown right, regardless of the fine!

But half of Wane's fine is also suspended, and Wane gets the chance of appeal whereas Brown doesn't.
So Brown has been a naughtier boy than Waney. But then we all knew that anyway coz Waney's from Wiggin and they're special.

I was wrong on the right of appeal thingy though. Mike Appleton advised me that Brown did have the right to appeal, but the club accepted the fine and so the right of appeal thingy wasn't mentioned in their press release. Obviously Wigan haven't made up their minds as to whether they will accept the fine yet.
Martyn Sadler of League Express tweeted that Nathan Brown had been fined but didn't mention Wane, and Josh Charnley has appeared in the Manchester Evening News saying how disgraceful Nathan Brown's comments were but hasn't mentioned that Wane has also been fined. Funny how that is!
