The raiders average gate is around 2000 fans, so I would estimate around 500 to 800 travelling fans. Saints fans need to support this game to give Des there chairman some cash from the game, he's believed to be going into a cash flow problem.

We took at least 1,200 to Cas, 3,500 to the Northern Rail Cup final and 4,500 to the Grand Final, so as I said, upwards of 2,000 WILL be going to Knowsley road. In last years Challenge Cup match at Craven Park vs Wigan it was a sell-out of at least 6,500, with Wigan getting just 1,200 tickets.

The local soccer team Barrow AFC won the FA Trophy at Wembley last Saturday and took 8,000 fans. They took 8,000 across to Sunderland for the FA Cup as well. Their average gate in the Conference is 1,300-odd.

The point being that when there is a big game on, the Barrow public turn up. As they would if the RFL ever gave a Super League license to Cumbria.

Lol - quite possibly, I reckon they are deep in thought about how much to charge - realistically £10-12 would be a sensible amount - if they go to £15+ its going to put plenty off.

Actually barring a replay - this is the last ever Challenge Cup appearance at Knowsley Road - so there should be every attepmt to market it as best they can

price not too bad IMO for a cup quarter final.

I'm hoping they have a bit of sense and knock it back to maybe 5:30/6 when they realise they will be lucky to get 4000!! At the current scheduled time and cost they are likely to get more Cumbrians in there than locals

I can't believe the total lack of respect for the best club outside Super League, who turned over Castleford AT THE JUNGLE in round 4.

I also can't believe that people are whingeing at paying £14.50 to watch their team in the QF of the Challenge Cup with some intimating that they'll probably stay at home and watchWigan play instead.

Spend a few years in the lower leagues and then you'll reaise just how good you've got it.

I see your point, my main gripe is the time, i'll have to miss an afternoon in work, and the £ from that as well.

Having to miss work and lose money is of course a very good reason to think twice about attending, but £14.50 to watch a team like St Helens is a steal. Our sport under-values itself too much.

For what it's worth, the general ground admission at Barrow for 2010 is £15 or £16 Grandstand.

Oh I wouldn't worry about it, you always get some folk that think everything below Super League isn't worth talking about. I've seen Barrow a few times on TV this season and last and they weren't that far off the performance of a bottom end SL team.

I'm sure it will be very competitive but it's likely that most people that see the game will be Barrow speccies.

After last nights performance, maybe the Saints v Barrow Challenge Cup encounter will be a bit more than a 'practice match' after all. I'm sure Mr Rooney will be giving Barrow lad Ade Gardner a LOT of catching practice !!!!!!
