| Can anyone give me an actual example of a time Bailey has 'run away'? I bet you can't because he doesn't. He's been involved in numerous skirmishes and the only time I've seen anyone get the better of him was Sculthorpe, one of SL's hardest ever players, when Bailey was what, 20?

Think Newtons dad took him off to protect you. Only person to knock him on his booty was Brian McDermott.

| I used to hate any player who pulled on a cherry & white sh*te jersey. Most now I can admit a grudging respect for - players like Gregory, Hanley, Edwards, Farrell are undisputed legends of the game.
But three I still hate were all cheapshot merchants:
1) Thug Newton
2) Neil 'Fat-as-a' Cowie
3) Adrian Shelford (whose treachery, combined with the wittedness of the then Saints management, cost us my fave player of the time, Andy Platt)
I also couldn't stand Mick Cassidy, cos he looked like one of the bullyboys from Karate Kid

I knew terry very well and I'd be very shocked if he was taken off to be protected. Terry was hard as nails and not many can put him on his booty.

| So many wigan players I've hated over the years but Skerritt (sp) and Cowie stand out from past days, Edwards was just a supreme winner/highly motivated but imo overrated (By Wiganers of course ) as a player.
Mick Cassidy was another average player with a chip on his overpaid shoulder
Ryan Bailey is a joke, you know your bad when your fellow professionals think your pathetic. Scully's exact words were 'always 3rd man in first man out'.
Funny really because the players who stand out for me were those of limited talent. Players like Hanley , Farrell , Robinson etc who were geniune world class players I always had a grudging respect for.
Terry Newton was probably the player of modern times who stood out for me and maybe the exception to the 'average player' tag. He had talent and he was hard as nails but he spoiled it all by being a dirty sod, his assault on his 'mate' Sean Long was just disgusting.

And Scullys one who would know, ask Andy Farrell.

I don't know what game you was watching but the most overrated player ever to play super league and scully wanted a to get it on but was split up.
You shouldn't even mention Andy Faz in the same breath as scully. Scully was respected by Britain, kiwis and the Aussies as a true pure class player but Faz was only rated by Wigan fans and sky.

because pan face spat his dummy out and called him a 'h0use once? Along with Jamie Peacock I think Scully is one of the hardest men to play in superleague, a coward like Bailey he was not.

Farrell was a good player , as a prop or second row. TBH he should have been at prop well before the last season when he was shifted there. He fancied himself as a standoff which he clearly wasnt. Scully was a proper ball playing loose forward ...

| Get a dvd of the 2004 Cup Final and watch Scullys "tackle" on Kevin Brown. Faz was bigger, faster, stronger, a better kicker.
Look at their respective points scoring records. Game set and match.

I think Andy Faz was very overrated but I put that down to the muppets on sky building him up to be something he wasn't and he's pron my most hated Wigan player for that reason but I suppose Eddie and stevo turned me against him getting hard on over him.
I must admit he was very good in his first full season at Wigan and was possibly world class in that last season as a prop.

I think I'm pretty fair in assessing players no matter who they play for, I might not like certain players but I'm big enough to say they are good players but I don't think Faz was a patch on scully.

I think Faz was good player but was built up to be something he wasn't. I think he was a top class club level player but a average international. Id have had him at saints in a shot tho.

Now your grasping at straws, Scully was certainly smaller but I wouldnt be too sure he was weaker, he was certainly stronger in defence and had more skill going forward, Farrell relied on his size and bulk more (I admit nobody could throw a 30 yard forward pass quite like Farrell). As for kicking, Farrell was Wigans undesputed no1 , Scully didnt like the job and did it when he had too. For GB they were both worth a spot, Faz in the second row, prop as he got older Scully as 13 every single time. If I had to choose between them I'd have Scully in my team every day of the week.

Scully had his best great Britain games at stand off. I recall one of the Aussies post match saying he was in the top three players in the world.

He was called the English Brad Fittler iirc who ironically also played 6 & 13 . Back when a 13 was a 13 not a prop

Don't forget when Faz started at Wigan they had a goalkicker called Botica. Farrell captained the GB / England team with Scully in it.
If I had the choice I would have Farrell before Scully any time but would love to have both of them.
Oh and we didn't have to buy Farrell.
I guess we'll have to agree to disagree, no problem with that is there.

While we're on about Bailey and cowardice its easy to post online but saying it to his face would be a different matter. Who's the coward? Don't like him myself but he'll retire having won at least 5 gfs which'll be more than any of us achieve

It was Lockyer.
Sculthorpe's at No.1, Farrel didn't even make his top 10
I'll take is word for it before any one else on here, if you don't mind.
=#FF0000LOCKYER NAMES HIS TOP 10 INTERNATIONAL OPPONENTS.
Lockyer openly admits he's had more farewell tours than John Farnham.
To the point where his Kangaroo teammates have taken to jokingly calling him "Johnny".
As he prepares to play the final 80 minutes of his career, Lockyer has nominated his top 10 international opponents from 15 years at the highest level.
TOP 10
1. Paul Sculthorpe (England): "I've always rated him very highly. He's a bit like a Jason Smith. Very composed, strong runner of the football and with good vision. Always hard to handle.
