It depends on whether the trend continues for renegotiating contracts. Tommy Makinson signed for two years and Gaskell for three during 2011. It may be that the club have decided to review their contracts in the light of the 2011 season, just as they have obviously reviewed the contract for Lomax (who still had two years to run on his old one).

Jamie Foster tweeted that some 'great news' was going to be revealed before 6pm tonight so my guess is that he has a deal sorted.

The quote in the RL press though was not remotely indicative of someone considering using it as a negotiating tool. He said that he couldn't dismiss anything in the future because things can change: the club might not want him anymore or family life might change. He also said that his heart was at the Saints, that he had always wanted to play for Saints and that he could see himself being a one club man. Further, he said that the decision to extend his contract (which was agreed to without the caveats Tomkins appeared to need to keep him at Wigan) was an easy decision to make.

I'd ignore what some people say. Such things aren't worth the bandwith they have used up in order to appear on the screen.
