I agree. We were in need a of a centre to replace George Carmont (surely one of the most under rated players ever in Super League) and Shenton would have been a good fit. Another one we missed out on was Joel Moon who I rate as the best centre in Super League at present and a lot better than the much talked about Kallum Watkins.

| Shenton publicly stated that he found the journey difficult to deal with. Looks like he's playing pretty well at Cas this season.

I don't understand that. Why didn't he just move? Renting a house for his family would been easily affordable and they could have gone home on his days off. Never understand why players put themselves through 4 hours of driving every day when they've got a job that relies so heavily on physical exertion.

His wife may have a good job which is better suited to living in Yorkshire, and him commuting rather than her.

I know for a fact he found the traveling a pain. Playing Friday night wasn't good for him either as he went home after games.

Then like the rest of us in that situation they could have moved somewhere half way between. Issues like this irritate me, St Helens hasn't suddenly moved further away from Cas than it was before he signed so it can't really have come as a surprise.

| Everyone is different. He probably thought it would not be too big an issue. But when your working day is extended by 4 hours everyday, by a commute. You can see it taking it's toll.
If he had a young family, that kind of thing has a real impact. I've no idea what his wifes job is, it would be arrogant to think they can just up and move with him. She could be pulling down Ā£40k - Ā£100,000 a year for a career that will last 40 years rather than a ten year career.
He gave it a go and gave it his best and when it did not work he did not moan or complain or make it difficult. He took a chance to move back. Have a lot of respect for the fella.

| His wife was and is a maths teacher at a secondary school in Wakefield. Would have easily found a job over these parts and wouldn't have been on mega bucks.
Rent a house in Oldham and both would have had a 40 minute drive.
I think Saints need to employ me as player liaison officer. I'll do the dirty work, arranging digs for players off cap and arranging accidents for players who don't meet the required standards.

| Jesus this guy is soft! He's like a pansy on the field. Looks afraid of breaking a nail. I don't think I've seen a player as soft as s*it as this guy.
I've seen some bad players but this guy just so soft in everything he does. Even when he falls with the ball he's trying to break his fall.
Just an embarrassment to a rugby league player.

I agree with the sentiments. At the moment, Turner looks like a man who doesn't want to be on a rugby field. Some of his defence is embarrassing. One Leeds try, he stood rooted to the tryline as they advanced on him. He couldn't have stopped a try even if he'd bothered to make the tackle (which he didn't).
He needs to be dropped. He's in terrible form.

He's so soft it's embarrassing. I've never seen a rugby player afraid of falling to the ground. It's like a 13yr old school girl falling over in the play ground.
He even puts his hands up if the is a tackle in front of him in case he catches a stray boot, again like a school girl.
I'll be honest, I don't want to see this pansy play in a saints shirt again.

| I don't know what's happened to him. He played well for large parts of last season. The problem we have is who replaces him? Percival is as bad in defence as him.

| Got to be fair to Percival. That was his first game back. And one of the missed tackles that lead to a try was just bad fortune. Smashing his head into Swifts. If one had not made the tackle. Then Watkins would probably have been tackled. Or at least slowed enough for the tackle to be completed.
You can't account for players taking each other out. To me it showed a lack of playing together. But we can't blame Brown for Percival being injured.

It was a risk putting Percy in and a risk is have took. Percy can actually beat men which is something we lack in the backs.
He was rusty and in hindsight it prob back fired.

| Having now seen your guys up against both Wigan and Leeds in recent weeks do those of you who put forward the 'best 1-5 in Superleague' (sic) still stick by that claim? That's a genuine question btw, not trolling. As I said at the time, I thought it was something of a stretch.

No one said that, when people suggested we had one of the best back 5 in the league it was a fair suggestion as they were in form. Notice how it says "one of" implying there is others. Don't twist peoples words.

I never for one minute thought we had the best backs in super league.
The back three have been pretty good to be fair.
Jonny lomax is massively important to our attack.
Tommy has been finishing as good as any winger in world rugby but isn't the best at beating a man and I'd certainly put hall, briscoe and charnley ahead of him.
Swift has come on massively this year. He's been great.
The pansy been woeful.
Percy injured all year.
Jones been good at centre but I don't know what position he is and I don't think saints know.
I ain't got clue who our stand off is.
Walsh is quality. Looks to good for this team and we rely on him far to much.

| I see that a group of fans have now found their figure of hate to blame for the TEAMS failures.
Jordan Turner has now become the new scapegoat to replace Francis Meli.
When the side loses, its all his fault. We will ignore the mistakes of those we cherish, for they are beyond criticism.
Only one is to blame and that is JT.
People need to get over the loss to Wigan and Leeds, and accept that they are currently better sides than us.
There is no shame in that, its reality. People need to stop looking for scapegoats and excuses.
Prior to the season started it was commented on by fans of all teams that Leeds probably had the best one to five in SL and possibly the world. Their pack which has always been under rated ,possesses in Peacock one of the all time great prop forwards.
Wigan for whom many Saints fans are in denial over, did the double last year. That is a tremendous and rare achievement over the entire history of the game. A side like that doesn't just crumble overnight, even if its lost a few of its star players. They are winners, and as we as Saints fans are aware from our own glory years, sides of winners will fight very hard not to give up their title. They also have the advantage that Wigan as a town has more people playing RL than anywhere else in the country. This gives them a huge talent pool to draw upon. Its why their academy teams consistently win title after title, and means that even when they lose star players they still have quality to come in and replace them.
