Well I have seen all our games and against Widnes his defence was outstanding and stopped a certain try, at Bradford last week he was very solid defensively.
I give you the Huddersfield game, but who did play well? Even the Kitman probably had an off day.
Last night he was ok, but he was playing against Moon who is outstanding for them and I think most would have struggled against him in that sort of form.

Bit unfair really, Of the three players who left us Manu, Turner and Moa 99% of Hull fans didn't want Moa and Manu to leave and would readily admit they'd take them back in an instant. Turner however was with us three years and had a dozen good games and regularly came in for criticism and not just after he'd left us.
Not a natural centre IMO.

| Cant understand this knocking of Turner
He has been far better than Shenton both in defence and in attack.
I have watched every single Saints game so far this season, and he has improved our defensive solidity in the right centre channel considerably, while at the same time offering good yardage going forward.
The times he has been exposed have been when we have had to reshuffle due to injury. For example when moving him to play on the wing against Hull, or losing Wheeler as his inside defender against Leeds.
He is no world beater, and only a fool would have thought we were signing the next Jamie Lyon. However he is a good solid player who is doing a job for us.
Some base stats to mull over.
Turner is our 6th best metre maker
Joint 3rd in terms of clean breaks.
is 9th in terms of tackles made
has a tackle completion rate of 94.5 % which is significantly higher than Michael Shenton achieved in the same position, and more on a par with Matt Gidley when he first joined Saints. Gidley being a noted defender.

| I think everyone Being very harsh on Turner. He's not set the world on fire but he's certainly not playing as bad as suggested on here.
People forget, he's still a young lad and only 4/5 games into his saints career.
I think if we give him some half decent ball, he will make breaks. He's big, fast with good feet.
To early to right him off yet!

| I feared for him coming up against Moon last night, and I was right to. He got ripped apart, albeit by a good centre.

They should sacked him to get Moon in! He's a quality centre, scores and sets up plenty, as proven last night.

Very surprised, not sure who I'd have given it to, but it wouldn't have been Turner. At a push, probably Soliola.

Soliola stands out because of his big hair style, and occasional big run and big hit.
However defensively he is a liability having a tackle completion rate of just 88% missing 13 tackles upto the Leeds game.
Soliola moved into Centre in the grand final against Leeds when Shenton got injured and Leeds ripped us to shreds down that flank
He went Centre when Wello got injured against Hull. Guess were Hull tore us a new one.
Then when Wheeler was injured Soliola came on and filled in were Wheeler was defending. Guess were Leeds started attacking.

| Turner looks like a good winger prospect. Is centre his best position?
He has pace which Shenton didn't have and you cannot teach that.
Let's at least gived the lad more time to see what he can do. He needs to play behind at least a pack on par to be judged first.
Why's he not kciking goals as per pre season? Would help boost his confidence.

There is nothing occasional about Soliola's workrate. He never stopped on Friday night. And then there is that quality that cannot be coached into a player - the ability to get the team (and crowd) going. Soliola always seems to do that. It's a valuable quality to have, especially in a team like Saints where there seems to be mostly mice.

That's why a coach with any sense won't play him twice at centre.
Maybe Nathan Brown needs a bit more sense ...?

Last night albeit not alone he was very poor and I have yet to see any indication otherwise in other games. Moon or Turner there is only one choice yet Saints plumped for the loser.

You make room by offloading one of the deadwood quota players to Salford, Wakefield, Widnes, London or give them a one way ticket back Down Under.

You cant just offload them, they are under contract and if they dont want to go then you cant make them, also what makes you think one of those clubs could afford or want them ?

| I'm slightly perplexed by this reaction to Turner's performances. I think player of the month is going a bit far, but he seems to be doing alright to me.

We have Saddened, no need for imports to add to the negativity, Saddened can churn it out for 20 people.

| I must have missed something against Leeds, I thought Turner defended ok .
For Halls try there was several terrible efforts . One was defo TP on Burrow and young Walker with a poor effort on Moon . Never noticed Turner. In fact having read the poor reviews of his defending I've watched him closely and as said apart from the Hudds game where everyone was terrible I have no problem with him.

He has the best technique at the club and apparently was Browns number 1 choice. However just before the first game of the season he had a horror practice session in bad weather and his confidence went so the coaching team decided to get take him out of the firing line and allow him to bed into the team before putting more pressure on him.

I suppose the writing was on the wall for Makinson then that he was not flavour of the month.
