| I'd take an actual ape in charge if he had us in top spot with a sparkling attack and would hopefully guide us through to the semis of the cup at the weekend.
I hear all this ape stuff about Wane and saying he's as thick at two short planks but do any of you have a serious opinion on the job he's doing? Better then you thought?
I'd presume so because I read plenty of comments on here in pre season saying how he'd crash and burn taking over Maguire.
Not bad for an ape!

Hopes were high after your first game that he really was a buffoon, but sadly he is doing ok, albeit with McGuires team, so there is a small amount of grudging respect for the thick as mince ape man

I presume you have met Mike Rush and told him to his face, of course, how arrogant and monotone he is when being interviewed?

| Wane is living off Maguire's team and ethics. I think he is reaping the rewards of Maguire's development of players.
He brought in Lauaki from Hull and some RU no mark. So far he has only lost Richards who is replaced by Charnley (who was playing SL for a full season before Richards got injured) or Gelling from the fabled Wigan Yoof Academy who has it real tough playing outside Carmont. Carmont was injured but he is back playing now isn't he so that rules out the argument there.
It'll be interesting to see how they cope with the loss of Leuluai next year as he is a major player for Wigan. I don't know if they are linked with anyone etc.

You may have an argument if you ignore the loss of Coley, Joel, Hoffman, Gleeson, Roberts, Fielden and OCarroll from Maguire's teams.

Gleeson left during the 2011 season didn't he?
Roberts (only got U20s games), Fielden (not played since 1970) and O'Carroll (never off the physio table)? Wow HUGE losses there...how on Earth has the ape managed?

Indeed it just shows what a fantastic job he has done without a large portion of the salary cap in Roberts and Fielden; together with the losses of Joel, Hoffman, Coley and OCarroll (seem to remember him off the physio table and scoring in the play off semi last season).

| Can't believe people are arguing about which coach sounds the best when giving interviews. Paul Cullen sounded great when he used to do it at wire whereas Tony Smith hates talking to the media and comes across rather badly sometimes. I know which one i want coaching my team.

| Hopefully Rush & KC will be reminding our players of all the base, tribal b*llocks that keeps splurging out of Wane's gibbon gob, particularly his latest: "I expect a convincing win".

It is a lot of fun having both our clubs owned and coached by local lads, with the teams littered with more of the same.
That's why I love RL.

Considering the players that we didn't have on Good Friday (O' Loughlin, Mossop, Farrell, Lauaki, Flower plus Richards first half injury) and the 18 point win we got in spite of their absence, expectations are always going to be raised as a result of all of these players bar Richards being available

In all honesty we had players missing too and I think that the players returning for both sides probably evens out. If both teams play similar to what they did on Good Friday then I can see a very similar result. Saints need to up their game from Good Friday to win this game.

I loved the guys on their forum after their playoff defeat last season blaming the defeat squarely on the fact that Tompkins wasn't 100%, conveniently forgetting that we were completely without Pryce, Eastmond, Perry, Clough and Wheeler at the time....
