| Pry e is a good player but I've had my doubts to how good is he is in big games against big clubs. I'd liked to have kept him but wasn't to bothered about him going if we replaced him with a ball playing stand off.
The fact we ain't replacing vim with a experienced ball playing halfback is no a very big worry. We've two fullbacks in the halves and both are runners who like to take the line on.
I fear for us next year, I really do

Lance COULD be a revelation. COULD. But he's got NO experience of organising a team from HALFBACK and he hasn't shown any signs of having a kicking game, something we'll lack if he's partnered with J-Lo.
How about J-Lo to fullback and Gaskell and Lomax in the halves?'"
I think SaintsFan lives in bubble. She has now convinced herself that playing your entire career at fullback makes you an experienced halfback. Classic

Same interview as the St Helens podcast talking to Phil Kinsella.
Quote I'm happy to have my future secured for the next four years," Hohaia told BBC Radio Merseyside. "My partner and I are really excited to come to St Helens and represent the club.
"I had other offers from other clubs, but not so much from Super League.
"This all came about pretty quickly. My manager has been working with St Helens with other players and he understood they were looking for a half-back.
"I've always considered myself to play well in that position and I haven't had the opportunity to do that NRL level.
"So to be able to get a chance to play for a club like St Helens and have a crack at being the starting half-back is pretty exciting for me'"
Have to admit he doesn't sound that experienced at half, certainly not recently given he's been in the NRL for 10 years!

I haven't yet looked. But in the NRL isn't a 6 a five eighth? He was talking about being a 7, since that is where he was signed to start. At 7. He said he hadn't played at 7 since his junior days.
I'm sure this very discussion took place on these very boards at the time we signed him.

Half back is techincally 6 or 7, they do call 6 a 5/8 but the still refer to both positions as halves.
In his own words he has never played any regular rugby in the halves in the NRL, to have him as our main experienced half back is big risk.
He is a very talented player who I am sure will do well at Saints but I'd much prefer him having a year alongside an experienced half to bed into Saints as opposed to directing the team first off.

| Quote ="No1 Saint"It sound like a strategy Northern Rock would be proud of . Lomax emergence as a 7 was driven by the Eastmond saga and injuries the 'world cup winner' is a fullback who fancies a crack at halfback..
thats not planning. Planning would be thinking .. ok Pryce might be leaving at the end of the year and we know Eastmonds gone so lets see if we can bring in a proven experienced half to help the kids.'"
plans change though. Had Lomax not proved to be a revelation at half back, they may have offered Pryce a better deal. The fact that Lomax and Gaskell have performed really well this year has given more options (and headaches - due to them deserving more money etc...) and meant that Pryce was no longer a "must keep" - which it looked like at the time that Eastmond announced he was going.

Yes, I know that. But the context of the discussion I listened to was about him playing at 7, not at 6, and he said it was 7 he had only played at in the junior levels, that he had played at 6 (5/icon_cool.gif but he had been told (his word) by the coach to play at fullback for the last few years (he did give a number).
Tonight I will dig out the interview with him from the Saints site, if the link is still there.

I would imagine there is something in his past that would threaten him getting a visa, knowing what he's like.

I would think that unfortunatlly, he is to good for the super league at this time. Maybe when he is older and his best years are behind him he may consider it but if the Roosters were thinking of letting him go, a lot of NRL clubs would be chasing his signature.
