I don't drink and drive at all, that said there's a world of difference between someone who has 3/4 pints over 4 hours and drives home, and someone who is so drunk they drive into 3! cars, that's being completely drunk and getting behind the wheel and lucky not to kill anyone

People used to drink and drive freely back then. I remember being in a car with a lad who was absolutely out of his skull on alcohol. Being a teenager and not a driver meant I was clueless as to the impact drink had upon a driver. I can still remember that journey now, and still see the lad's face. I've no sympathy at all, if that is what Scott has done. IF.

Thanks for the advice, obviously a lot of thought and personel experience of being a supporter of a team that has had Long, Gleeson and Hock (amongst others) who not only transgressed,, but, were resigned (or tried to be) by the Pies.

But if they were caught transgressing twice they were gonners. The first two you mentioned are prime examples. Hock has served his time, and has rightly been given a second chance, but if he steps out of line again it's goodbye.

Just like with Leon if the courts rule him out that is one thing, if the courts don't then it's more a tactical position for the club.

Hocks name was Charnley, but when his parents eventually married he took his dads name, but he always played as Gareth Hock while at Wigan. His name change was when he was much younger.

The count starts again, and again, and again when you become an established top player. If Hock was an average squad member, he wouldn't still be contracted to Wigan now. Anyone who disputes that is either naive or stupid.

Same goes for any player to a point. Clubs aren't going to release their top international players unless they really have no choice.

He's been picked for International duty so i guess the answer would be yes - although possibly not at Saints. I think if he could buckle down and get a regular spot in the team (as was expected this year) he would be able to prove his worth. Might not get that chance now though.

Hock is a little different in that he was very established at club and country level and recognised probably as of the premier players in his position. Wigan didnt want him running off to another SL club for free so they compromised on there ethics and kept him around (His playing contract may not have been valid but I'm quite sure he never got sacked like pretty much anyone else in a real job would have been if they turned up for work off their heads). Not a first really for Wigan when it comes to signing people with dubious reputations under a cloud.. Mr Millward anyone?

Unbelievable if they do. Why not just keep him and fine every time he messes up? Unless they go and replace him it would be a terrible move, reducing the weakest squad in SL by another senior player. We'll be trotting out the Under 14s soon if we get a few more injuries.

Unless we get someone on loan to cover his loss. But it's not like there are any SL quality players available on loan anyway, I really can't see Leeds handing us Burgess for example, I'm sure they want him to go to Quins or Crusaders rather than a rival.
