| To widen the topic slightly, should this not be the start of the "Jammer for the Saints Captaincy" campaign? Longer potential tenure then Wellens and it might put off the rumoured move Down Under. Just a thought.

He is most probably going down 2011. I think he has made his mind up. If he is telling fans at forums he wants to go then he wants go. I don't think (c) will make him stay.

| now i've got my england hat on,i'd like to congratulate graham on his belated captaincy.
although i do hope that the new england captain will be the player that takes the ball into the tackle rather than the prop stood as first receiver, who then hands it straight on,who's idea/tactics were those?
imo it's a very big opportunity for him to guage where he is career wise, could he play to the nrl standard every week against these opposition players?
graham's obviously seen how well gaz ellis and sam burgess have adapted to the nrl,so this is his big chance to shine where it matters!

Thats a very good tactic, when he does it every so often. It when he starts to think he's a stand off and pass it every time he has it, that it becomes ridiculous. Also, theres time when he doesn't have give someone and hospital ball.

| But that tac tic causes doubt in the defenders mind, is he or isn't he. Very good play. People are being trained more now to run with both hands on the ball carrying it in the middle of their chest 1) to make it more difficult to strip 2) giving you good control and being able to pass before the collission.
By the way did you know Jammers roomie is Sam Burgess, who is complaining about Jammers smelly feet.

| Brian Smith's take on Graham as captain:
Quote ="Brian Smith""I can understand why Steve has selected James as captain," he said. "He's a businessman with footy.
"I like the way, in almost every meeting he's had, he's had at least two or three important things to say that, from my point of view at least, have been right on the money.
"He's got leadership skills and is quite well spoken. He's a bit shy around you guys - I don't think he wants to sort of project himself that way - but in amongst the group he's a real leader. I've been impressed with him.'"

it does if he takes the odd ball to the defense!
imo this tactic works best when performed close to the try line and with a couple of good runners and coming at the defensive line from different lines

O'Loughlin was stripped of the Wigan captaincy this year.

You still think Jammer shouldn't have been given the captaincy after his performance on Saturday?

O'Loughlin was Englands best player on Saturday, but I don't have a problem with Graham as captain.

Who does O'Loughlin play for again?
According to you on another thread Gleeson is Superleague's best English centre; according to you on this thread O'Loughlin was England's best player on Saturday.
There would be a theme there, obviously.
However, while I can't comment on Gleeson because I haven't seen him play enough, I did watch the match live on Saturday and I would disagree with you on O'Loughlin.
Oh, and I don't care whether you have a problem with James Graham as captain or not. He was magnificent out there on Saturday and led superbly by example, as a captain should.

For me it was James Graham, but I agree with your opinion on O'Loughlin. Westwood was a bit too lax in defence on a few crucial occasions, which is unusual for him as he is such a hard grafter no matter whether at club or international level.
