Actually, last season his ball retention was dodgy (although not specifically under the high ball). It has improved, which is great.

wheeler at CT to replace soliola when he moves into the pack
possible foster to replace meli or gardner
emmitt to replace fassavlue

dixon to replace wilkin when he leaves

Foster will most likely move into the centres as he is a very classy footballer, a proper wingers centre who can do the flick passes like Gidley and Lyon. He wil be wasted on the wing i feel
As for the rest , there are plenty of good young kids coming through.
Carl Forster is immense for his age, playing in the pack.
Then there is the forgotten man Gareth Frodsham who is still only 20 years old, now back from a long injury layoff and starting to get games under his belt.
We have Mcgennis who has looked a class act when in the 1st team
Gaskell who could go in the centres or play in the halves. I personally think he will end up at centre.

Rogues he had an absolute blinder of a game. Only time will tell but if he keeps this up he will become one hell of a player.

Makes me laugh when I hear people writing off teenagers. Some will make it and some wont but you can't tell when they're 18/19 whether they will.
I remember a lot of people claiming Eastmond wouldn't make it.

Hands down, automatic pick for his country in his position, and yet still hasn't made it. I would love to know what constitutes 'made it' in your mind.

He's still young so no doubt has lots more to offer but I think it's a bit difficult to argue with him making it. I'd definitely say being able to play well, as he did, on the international stage against the best in the world is a pretty credible statement of 'making it'.

Maybe so.. but Sam is a 6/7 and not a full back. He is just playing well in that position, and was full back of the month last month so he cant be doing bad anyways.

| Sam Tomkins could well win young player of the year again this year (and next) and be in with a shout of MOS.

Certain members of your board have suggested moving him to full back on a full time basis, hence my comparison.

He could win it this year, as he was under 21 at season start, only coming of age in March.
However next year he willl be too old at the seasons start.

I'm led to believe that it's 21 or under at the start of the season, which would also qualify Tomkins next season. Unless they have to be under 21 at the start of the season.
Quote ="Eastbourne Warrior"I asked the RFL how the young player of the year is decided, the following was their response:

If Lomax and Eastmond had played as many matches as Sam this year then they too would have been in with a shout. When I said If Lomax continues in the way he played on Friday night then he could well overtake Sam next year. This statement was made by me and was meant to show just how well young Lomax played on Friday night Rogues. If he continues to play like that then he will certainly be up there along side him. He was an absolute joy to watch. Also he didn't show any of the dirty niggley tricks Sam gets up to and that's fine by me.

Not worried at all. Why should I be? Lomax is a fine young prospect from Gods little village of Billinge (Nr. Wigan ). and will make a superb player if he can stay injury free.
Read the thread again, it was my good friend Agent Mulder who brought Tomkins into it.
Then Chair Maker commented about the young player of the year part of my response, to which I replied.
Any problems with that?

Fair play, I just thought you were having your usual sly dig at Saints whilst still trying to maintain that you are impartial.
Apologies.

| Do we see Lomax playing 6 for the remainder of the season if Leon is out? Potter seems to have been impressed with him and mentions that although Lomax was nervous, he will come on for having spent game time at 6.
I'd be more than happy to see him playing at 6 on Saturday and if he impresses keep him in there unless Leon comes back. It'd be better than switching Wilkin there and Moore hasn't looked good enough to carry a team from half back.
