| Quote ="SFW"Not the biggest game in the grand scheme of things, but something a bit different and it always tends to be the first one I think of when threads like this come up. We destroyed Wigan 54-16 at the Pie Dome in a GF qualifier in 2000 (I think). Was a really special performance, the highlight being Sullivan catching a bomb on our left side and running the full length of the field, skinning Connolly in the process. I remember Long and Cunningham coming to salute the crowd at the end and a huge scrum of us ran right to the edge of the pitch to greet them.
We beat them in the GF a couple of weeks later too, I remember us being really comfortable early on but then they scored two quickfire tries and I remember a real nailbiter after that. The scenes of joy in the stands when Jonkers went over very late on will live with me forever - I probably hugged about half of this forum on the way down the stand and ended up about 15 rows lower than my seat.
Great days

That may well be my favourite game as well that. I loved The Ultimate Comeback and Cardiff '04 was special but that game, at the minor premiers a couple of weeks after they'd stuffed us on our own turf. Well, that was special. It'll be a long time before we see a minor premier team crushed and with such style as well.

That was a great game! We ran sacked Wigan on there own turf that day and am I right in thinking thats still there highest ever defeat at the DW? Longy, Martyn, Cunningham and Sculthorpe where outstanding that night infact there all where to be honest.
Another great game was at the DW earlier in that 2000 season. 16-0 down and stirring down the barrell. Tommy Martyn produced in my opinion one of the finest performances of his career to score a hat-trick and nick the game 30-28.

| When I asked the boss (my mam) she said the 49/50 Championship Final at Maine Road Huddersfield v Wigan.
Wigan won by 20 points to 2. By all accounts it was a remarkable Wigan victory because they had eight players Ashcroft, Bradshaw, Cunliffe, Egan, Gee, Hilton, Ratcliffe and Ryan who had left the week previously to tour Australia. No substitutes than so that's over 60% of the side missing (Huddersfield had one player on the tour)
My late Saints supporting father-in-law used to tell me about the Wigan side of that 48 - 52 era and said it the the best side EVER to play Rugby League.
I'll go through my memorable 50's, 60's, 70's and 80's games later in the week. Some will surprise you.

| My favourite ever game?
27th Decemeber 1992 (yes it was put back a day) and the 41-6 thrashing of such an immense Wigan side, and the best ever atmosphere at KR in my opinion.

I can still remember Frank Endacott's comment after the game "we self destructed". That last Tommy Martyn try to win it was the one when Lee Gilmour was adjudged to have knocked on when trying to make the tackle which has given us the tedious rule we have today.

You know, now you've said it, that performance by Tommy God is one of the finest I've ever seen by a Saints player. My memory isn't what it was on such detail but I'm struggling to think of one to match it. Any suggestions? Maybe Newlove against London at The Stoop? Long at Cardiff? I have it in my head that Hooper had a barnstormer too when we put fifty or sixty on Leeds.

Sculthorpe and Lyon definitely won games on their own. Lyon v Salford in 2005 stands out. You could pick a few from Scully in 2001 and 2002.

| I remember when we played Bradford at home not long after Kevin Ward had signed in '90ish - we were 12-0 up at half-time and cruising but self-destructed completely in the second half, not helped by a disgraceful refereeing performance (I think the 2nd half penalty count was about 12-1 to Bradford or something), but we ultimately still won the game 12-6 due almost exclusively to Wardy practically taking on the entire Bradford pack on his own. Without him we'dve lost by about 20 as they were otherwise completely dominant due to being relentlessly piggy-backed up the field the whole half by the penalties. That's about as close to a one-man team win as I've ever seen I think.

I know Chris Joynt was voted Man Of The Match against Brisbane Broncos in 2001 but I honestly thought Paul Sculthorpe was a class above that night. He tackled everything that was thrown at him and made hard yards allnight and took it to the Aussies. That was a great performance and I dont use the term 'great' all that often if at all.
Chris Joynt's 2000 Grand Final performance against Wigan was quite superb. If I am right in saying he made well over 40 tackles possibly over 50. Scored two tries and IMO that was Joynt's finest hour in a Saints shirt. He nearly stopped David Hodgson in one break away Wigan try when there comeback started sprinting half way across the field but unfortunatley couldnt hang on to him. That was Joynt's sheer grit and determination that night.
Listen there have been many super performances by Saints players over the years and I would have to think for a good few hours to get maybe a top ten list.

| We've been blessed with an abundance of highlights over the last 20 years, so it's difficult to narrow it down to one match. Most of the obvious ones have been mentioned - bulls cc final 96, both wcc, Wigan cc 04, 75-0 etc.
The 2000 playoff game at Wigan was amazing, but I only watched that on tv, so I won't count that. For me, the best match was the 41-6 game in 1992. What an atmosphere, a result that no-one expected, some quite brilliant tries - sonny nickle's run to the corner probably the pick of them.
A bit of a soft spot for the Lancashire cup final against Rochdale at wilder spool, as that was the first trophy I saw saints win.
Arguably my favourite rugby league match was great Britain beating the Aussies in Sydney 2006. I was fortunate enough to be there - what a night! Loads of random photos with Aussies, having a drink with anyone in a gb shirt, singing with the saints academy lads at the end of the game. Awesome. One of Sean long's finest games too.

| The only thing I recall being memorable about that 04 game was the biff. Otherwise, despite the scoreline, I'm sure it was pretty mediocre.
