Holdsworth slides the kick in on the last tackle and Luke Patten is just short of scoring Salford's second try. From the tap on the 20 Salford then relieve the pressure on Saints once again by committing a high tackle on James Graham.

James Roby puts a kick through on the last and is chased by James Graham. The Saints fans erupt as if a try has been scored but the referee wipes it off. Graham isn't happy with the decision and kicks the ball away, as a result of this he is sent for 10 minutes.

Phil Bentham gets a second yellow card out after Ray Cashmere makes yet another high tackle. Both teams now down to 12 men and a prop short. This match is heating up a bit now.

Saints on the Salford line make a forward pass and squander good territory once again.

About the 6th or 7th high tackle now by Salford, this time on Tommy Makinson. Not long before this game erupts or a red card is produced if this continues.

The penalty gives Saints another go form the Salford 20. From the possession Roby sweeps right across the Salford line and drops off Sia Soliola running on the angle. Soliola powers through the gap and is unstoppable as he goes through Luke Patten to score Saints' first try. Jamie Foster adds the extras.

Saints with a brilliant roll from the kick off go forward and make great territory. Salford give a penalty away on their own 30.

A quick play of the ball from Leon Pryce and good play from Shenton to feed Tommy Makinson. Makinson outnumbered 3 to 1 manages to use pace and power to squeeze over in the corner. Great try. Jamie Foster with a good conversion from the touchline.

Jonny Lomax with a brilliant step and go through the line and charge for the post. Somehow that results in Salford dropping out under their own posts. The ball must have been ripped and grounded by a Salford player.

Terrible first half by saints.

We can't even break down Salford after camping on Salford line for large parts of the game.

A strange try for Saints with about 7 kicks and 11 offloads sees Francis Meli go over. (Bit of an exaggeration). 3 out of 3 from Foster.

Matty Ashurst goes over after a good short ball from Jonny Lomax. Good line from Ashurst. Foster converts.

After a big kick forward and a return to the 40 from Danny Williams Salford are awarded a penalty and can put pressure on in the Saints 20m area.

Luke Patten is guilty of giving a forward pass to Wayne Godwin and giving up a good opportunity to try and get back in the game.

Scott Moore puts an aggressive shot on Paleaaesina and hurts him, forces an error from Salford.

Salford try and play their way out of their own 10m line and knock on. This gives Saints a great opportunity to put the final nail in the coffin.

On only the second tackle Paul Clough tries to stretch out for the line but unfortunately loses control in the process and gives possession back to Salford. Saints are then caught offside a couple of plays later which lets Salford get out of their own half.

Matty Smith attempted to put a chip kick over on the half way line only for Lee Gaskell to pick it out of the air and race away to the try line to put Salford to bed. Jamie Foster converts.

Saints flood forward after a bad Salford kick off and are held up twice over the line in the shape of James Graham and James Roby. The kick from Gaskell on the last goes dead.

Full time, not a great performance by Saints but a win all the same.

I was not expecting fireworks and 30 points against anyside is decent. Lets not forget these guys beat Huddersfield last time out.

Saints have never been good after a week off and our last outing was well less than perfect.

The worry will be can we pick up the intensity for the playoffs or will we stay at this lower intensity.

Either way a win is a win and 3rd spot is done with.

Can't see the quins putting up a stiff test next week so is it worth playing a full team if it's just going to be an additional training session.
