Good on him I say. It's a fight between two teams and cheap shots get threw all the time. I wish they would all get stuck in like Maggenis did. The 3rd man in shirt grabbers are the ones that really grind my gears the likes of TP and Meli come over to split up a fight and grab our player to pull him away and it's like he's being held for free shots from the opposition. I was disappointed none of our so called forwards had a go at Mossop for his cheap shot on Maggenis aswell.

You do know Mossop hit Magennis in reaction to him punching Tuson when his back was turned? I'm all for a bit of biff if both players are aware but that was cowardly.

Magennis doesn't really appear to be the sharpest tool in the box though either.

It was more or less handbags, Ben Thaler went overboard on confused info from the linesmen on an incident that ruined the game as an event, and put a damper on the whole weekend tournament, (the only other blot was the Warrington, Widnes debackle.) I don't think the touchies expected Thaler to throw a wobbler and see red, what a joke, yellows at worst, it seemed that what was the start of the piece was just a rubbing of nuts with Hock and Louie Mc, which seemed to move into some kind of yed-to-yed dance, not much more than that. The Magennis v Tuson match-up was a bit more of a seeing-to, but it was a hot day, a bad game for the Saints, and no doubt a bit of gob from both sides. THE REAL FOOL WAS THALER. IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN YELLOW!! IF ANYTHING?.

Yeah I know why he did it and it was a cheap shot and as I said they happen that doesn't bother me. I was annoyed that no one threw at Mossop for dropping one of our younger players given the size of the people we had stood around watching.

It was more handbags than anything, Ben Thaler and his touch judges were a joke! and not just with this incident, Childes is more suitable for youth games and Mr Roly Poly from St Helens is a laugh! it is a real weak part of our game, just think of the likes of Mick Naughton and Eric Clay they controlled games and let them flow.

I like Magennis but that was sh*thouse stuff.

Then again I can't help but be relieved that we have at least one player willing to show some aggression against Wigan, however brainless it may be, rather than rolling over and having his tummy tickled like most of the squad.

Had another look, frame by frame, (how sad is that!) but can't see anything that Hock did that was so bad, a bit of a not-roll, a couple of powder puffs to Scarsbrook's solar plexus, a bit of a cheek-to-cheek for a while, then a pull apart, end of that bit, a yellow at worst. The other event, Tuson and Magennis, on the other side of the scrum. They push each other, Tuson starts to turn away, Magennis fetches him a right-hander, Tuson goes a tad overboard in reponse, and apart for one-or-two minor incidenton on the sidelines, thats it for me. (sorry to be so sad about this)I hate it when other people are so sad but I'm just trying to show how this thing is going to be blown out of proportion to what it was. the real idiot was Thaler! it should have been yellows, then end of story! If we had lost I would want to blame someone, but I hope it would be the way we played the game and not a bad call from Thaler. Wigan is not a side of thugs, (nor are The Saints) it's a hard game for hard men, that's one reason we like it. So good luck to The Saints, and see you at the end of the season. you never know what might rest on that one!

Magennis was throwing punches at anyone in reach - he landed a couple on SoL after he'd broken it up between him and Tuson, and was heading in for more when Mossop floored him - it was probably the only way to stop him to be fair.

Out of all of it there was only Magennis who I thought was really out of order for puncing a bloke who wasn't even looking at him.

All the others - yellow cards would have been fine - reminded me abit of the times cowie and fogarty were scrumming down.

Well done? He didn't front up, he blindsided someone, which makes him a pathetic coward.

But Magennis didn't defend himself. He punched someone from behind after they had turned away. That's not defending yourself, that's getting the first punch in, in the most cowardly way possible.

Magennis and Tuson hadn't had a fight up to then. They'd just grabbed each other's shirts. Their conflict was over, and Tuson turned TO FACE the main fight.

Magennis then blindsided him, which makes him a dirty cheapshot coward.

If Magennis was any good, I would be able to work myself up into a fuss about this. As it is, he is 33 games into his career and this is the most noteworthy thing he has done to date.

If/when he gets banned, we wont miss him - which says a lot about his contribution to the team.

I have never seen so many high tackles as we see in the game today! one time it was a straight sending off offence.

Maggenis had a pop at Lockers and then turned to have a pop at Mossop.....Who then proceeded to put Maggenis on his ar*e. No cheapshot from Mossop as they were both fully square on and ready for a biff.

Apart from the scumbag cheapshot from Maggenis the rest was just a bit of forwards having a biff.

I have watched it back and you need to take your Wigan coloured specs off. It was by no means in the same league as Magennis' but Magennis was after going back to SoL when Mossop hit him.

I agree. To punch someone when their back is towards you, even if they are a Wiganer, is cowardly and cheap. I hope he gets a multiple match ban, not least because we then may see Dixon back in the team and Dixon in the few games he played while Simmons was around offered far more to the team than Magennis has done all season. If all he can offer is cowardly cheap shots then I would rather he went somewhere else.

The incident between LMS and Hock was a different beast all together. LMS was niggling Hock in the scrum, doing that head thing, and Hock reacted with shots to the face of LMS while holding him. Thankfully LMS didn't react and so made Hock look even worse. Hopefully Hock will also get a multiple match ban.

It was a sad end to what was overall an enjoyable Magic weekend, not just because of the fight (which though always fun to watch will result in no playing action being reported; only the fight) but because we put in such an unprofessional performance, even with one man advantage. The whole farce was embarrassing to witness and I hope the whole team feel utterly ashamed of themselves for looking so completely ridiculous in every respect.

I love how the Wigan fans can watch that brawl and suggest the only person who did anything wrong was Magennis. It's bizarre.

The RFL can ban him for as long as the want, he's irrelevant anyway. But to dismiss Hock's attempts to break LMS' nose in the scrum as 'just props doing what props do' is rather silly. Organised violence between forwards has been out of the game for 20 years now. There are enough avenues to channel legal aggression through in the game without allowing players to strike each other.

Anyone suggesting it's okay 'to have a bit of biff' need to wake up. A professional rugby player striking to the head could easily kill. All it takes is a bleed and we could see a player lose his life. It's a part of the game we don't need and shouldn't condone as 'biff' when it happens.

I think the RFL should send a message and use the three dualists as an example. Hock should get 5-6 given his previous, Magennis the same and Tuson 4. They should also ban McIllorum for his tackle after the incident and for his complete loss of control.

No argument with Magennis being sent off, but just watched the fight again on replay and he hits him side on not from behind...whilst I agree he should have smacked him head on, its about time somebody showed a bit of fire in our pack. Was it a cheap shot? Yes...Was it the only cheap shot in the game? No...Hock is full of cheap shots and McIlorum isnt far behind him!! Just because MAgennis' was shown up and replayed many times over, dont let your Wigan specs fool you that your players dont do it

Not sure about all the "disgrace" talk in regard to the punch up, I thought the fight added a bit of spice and the passion of derby games can often lead to things boling over - was nice to see some actual punches thrown for a change instead of just pushing like footballers do...people need to accept that we watch a contact sport and it can happen - anybody who plays the game knows this

I don't think you couldn't have watched it again, I have and could not see Hock smack anyone in the mush, I think you seen what you wanted to see and exaggerated the facts. what went on was not good for the game, and won't change the outcome. I'm not blaming anyone, it was not such a big deal, it was Thaler who made it one with his bad choice of card colour scheme.
