We lost the final due to about 3 mistakes of "senior" players, the tactics were spot on and 30 mins in we had leeds rattled. Potter can't be blamed for errors of seasoned professionals

We lost the final because of a few defensive lapses yes - but we camped on Leeds line for periods of time and never even looked like scoring. I cant argue are dense is excellent but creativily we were very very poor and have been for some time now. I watch saints every home game and as many away games as I can get in and I can honestly say we've turned into a very boring team

You can only have an opinion, if you agree with the masses.
The rugby we have played this year has been cr@p, a bit like when Potter was in charge of Catalan. He will never achieve anything at Saints and I hope he is not allowed to see out his contract.

Gardner or Eastmond scored one of the trys they missed by inches

Smiths try had been disallowed

Mine personally wouldnt change - the brand of Rugby we play is poor and I think we have been carried through a bit this year because of some of the quality we have in the side despite Potters tactics.
Despite the excuses some people insist on making this year (latterly) we seem to have lost the link between the halves and the outside backs, Pryce looks lost and constantly gets the ball with defenders in his face, and to top that off we also seem to have lost the ability to get a kick away on the last tackle. We havent been blessed with a great kicking game for a long time now but this year its just got worse - we've knocked on or turned over possetion on the last more times than I've seen in years.

If you are asking me, the same. We have over-achieved this season and whislt we may have played well in certain games, the consistency hasn't been there and the brand of rugby has been boring.

If my aunty had a dicky then she would'nt be my aunty.
Who is to say Leeds would not have responded...?
The truth is that Potter has bored the pants off most fans. The flair has completely evaporated from the side. There are mitigating circumstances like the slower PTB, but MP's style is grind it down the middle.
The traditions of the club have always been ones of open and attacking rugby. I think there are more than a few who may be picking and choosing their games next season whilst MP remains in charge - FFS we looked short of ideas against Salford.

Totally agree with this, he plays down the middle with a team without a full compliment of props. The props he does have are ball playing props but he doesn't play to these strengths and is stiffling the team.

| To me it looks like our line in attack is much flatter than under Daniel Anderson. It doesn't suit Pryce at all as the defense are in his face to quickly. It's made Meli look better in attack as we're creating an overlap for him. If I remember correctly we used to have a staggered shallow and deep attacking line under Daniel Anderson giving us both options.

yeah, must have been a different coach that saw Justin Murphy the leading try scorer in 2006, the "greenshields" scrum play developed in 2007 and Murphy go at a try a game in 2008!

I dont give a what he did at Catalans but I can see with my own eye's what Saints have turned into this season. We have plenty of excuses to hide behind but the simple fact is at the moment we play very very dour Rugby. Maybe with a good off season we will be better next year .. guess we'll have to wait and see

One of the best Saints performances i've seen in recent years came at Headingley earlier this year, when Wilkin played 6, wonder who decided to play him there?
I can see with my own eyes that Saints have an ageing squad and fatigued at the the back end of the season. Who do you blame for that? Potter for not replacing the tired players with new ones or the previous management for offering contracts to a whole squad of players that would see them at Saints in their mid-30's?

| Lets face it..... He's done no worse than DA did in his first season... if we're not counting finishing top.
Some of our fans need a reality check, DA gets all the praise in the world.... but he still failed to win us 2 Grand Finals v Leeds... and that was with a much stronger squad than Potter has had to chose from.
Get off the guys back...

But under DA the signs of success were always there. We played very well the majority of the time and you could see the team winning trophies.
Can you honestly see this Saints side under Potter winning anything? It's a struggle to see them winning an away game next season at the moment, given how few points we're scoring. The attacking deficiencies are not a short term thing, it's getting on for 10 games since we scored more than 15 points, which is absolutely ridiculous.

Surely that makes DA a weaker coach than Potter then?
DA: Strong side, looking unbeatable during regular season. Bottle GF's.
Potter: Weak side, struggle for form during regular season. Push Leeds all the way in GF.

But lets face it, if I had coached that Saints side, do you think they would have failed to make the GF?
We had no real challenge in the play offs. Huddersfield's season finished on Challenge Cup final day and Wigoon weren't up to much.
The side Potter has isn't that much weaker than those Anderson had. He's one or two men down in terms of the squad, but the 17 we put out at the weekend was as good.

Shut your hole you.
It's true, I'm not Potters greatest fan after this season, but [ieveryone[/i knew that this time would come... where the squad is getting older and we are having the same transitition period that Wigan had in 2005 -2006. No matter who came in after DA, he was going to get stick if we didn't start winning things immediately.
I just think it's a little early to be calling for his head.

I see where you are coming from, but on the other hand, I think... considering how badly we have been playing (especially since August) getting to the GF and putting up a good fight, was an achievement in itself.

True, for any other club it is. But for that squad not winning anything is an underachievement IMO. Losing to Huddersfield in the semi destroyed the belief the club had in itself. It all went downhill after that.

I agree, I think that the CCSF was the turning point for us this year, but hopefully it's just a blip. Next season we need to keep blooding the youngsters, and hopefully Potter will get us playing expansive rugby again....
I would have no issue if we won nothing for a season or two, so long as we are bringing kids into the squad and actually looking like we are putting some effort in, imo we need the foundations of the squad rebuilding, and now is the time to do it.

| He has helped coach the Saints out of Saints and now with the lack of pace in the side you can't win big games. It's a sorry state of affairs for the team that was once the most entertaining side to watch in the sport.

| Got to agree with the boring rugby, because it has been, i left more games early this season than i have done in the whole time ive been going to knowsley road, which is 28 years or so. Im not bothered about winning anything, i like the trophies to be shared around, but i want entertaing for my money and time, and i haven`t been this season unfortunately. Weather or not that is potters fault, i don`t know. I think its time wheeler got a run at stand off, i watched him play as an amateur and haven`t seen many better, i would consider putting pryce at full back, he played there for us a few seasons ago for a couple of games, he reads the game better from behind the line and gets more time to get going, would then have to consider giving wellens a go at loose forward if this happened. Just my thoughts.
