| Scoring the tries is not always the sign of an entertaining team. You can score tries through barging down the middle of the field piggy backed with penalties then just power over - like Bradford used to be pretty adept at - for me thats still pretty Dull.
I dont think any team Noble coaches will ever be 'exciting' to watch

Richards and Ainscough have scored 30 tries between them this season, so the barge down the middle theory doesn't fit does it?

Oh sorry barge down the middle then cetainly in Richards case kick to the corner. Noble's Bradford teams were dull and predictable for the most part and Wigan are pretty much the same sadly. I'm not saying I want Wigan to win but I do like to watch entertaining Rugby and I do catch quite a few Wigan games live and on the TV. From my experience I would say Wigan have traditionally played a more disciplined game than Saints (although that certainly changed under Hanley and Anderson) but were never boring to watch... sadly not the case anymore.

23 in Super League, and I imagine a fair few of Richards' 10 came from kicks.
Having said that, I don't think Wigan are boring to watch at all - I think they play some very good stuff when they're on it.

Really? You must have seen a few games I missed because they've been pretty dull when I've watched them and I know alot of Wigan fans would agree with me on that.

A lot of our own fans have said we're dull this year too, I tend to ignore them.

Whether you say it in jest or not, I agree. In the last 3 or 4 years the game has become a bit robotic at times over here, in an attempt to copy the the NRL. The problem is the NRL has moved on and has become extremely entertaining aswell as skillful.
Whilst there are still some good games over here, it's not a great deal by percentage over the year. Apart from the odd try, I an barely remember a try Saints have scored this year and that's because alot of them aren't that great.

The RFL are trying to keep with the Jones's all the time and when they think they've got the same, The Jones's have something else different so we are behind again and at square one. I wonder one day if we will ever have something the NRL instead of us wanting everything they have.
The next think the next brilliant RFL suggestion will be to have 2 refs and teams having the wingers in deep or do the NRL do this already???????

More rubbish.
Did Richards 50 metre try at Murrayfield come from a kick, or Ainscoughs second at the JJB.
I am sure Pryces at the JJB and Longs at Murrayfield did.
Take your Saints blinkers off.

Saints [ihave[/i been dull sometimes this year. I was glad on Friday night when for the first time in a while I actually forgot the time and enjoyed watching the match because although we were dull to begin with, we perked up and stopped being dull. I've yet to see a dull Castleford so once we had perked up the match did. It was nice to see a perky Saints again.

wow you can name a couple of try's that wernt entirely achieved through bash and barge tactics. I saw a great Ainscough try earlier in the season too (dont recall who it was against now) where he did what hardly any British Winger do these days and took someone on the outside, doesnt mean your not a very very Dull team to watch under Noble.
As for the people who say Saints are more boring , well I guess we probably are and have been since Millward left but we are a better team for it and we still retain more flair and attacking finess than most teams in SL .. Modern Rugby for you I guess...

I agree with that...
Super League is becoming quite monotonous at times. We've also been served up some tosh games on TV lately including the Eng v France non event.
I thought Quins were bad a few years back but slowly more and more teams are playing the dull 5 drives and a kick way they seemed to be obsessed with then. Cas are probably the most entertaining team at the moment.
Us Saints do try and entertain, espeically when Puletua, Gidley or Pryce are on song, but we really lack genuine pace outwide to really scincilate these days. I know I'm sounding like a spoilt brat but its true.

Defences are getting better and better and the fall back of the quick scoot from dummy half doesn't work as well as it used to. Until the playmakers get used to playing in that environment they will struggle to break teams down.
