I feel like crying. The place just won't be the same.

As much as I've hated him for his Grand Final mistakes, for the rest of his time at Saints he's been fantastic. We'll definitely be significantly weaker on the wings next season without him.

Meli has his faults but lets be honest he has given us outstanding service for 8 seasons and apart from his blunders in GF's he has been a quality winger for St Helens that there is no question.

Bye bye Mr Meli. He's been good at time, terrible at others. We'll miss his go forward but not his brainfarts

Always thought he looked good at centre.

At least the fans have got their succession planning sorted - new scapegoats have been identified and the transition is happening.

Vastly underrated and berated player for high profile mistakes - for all the fans who will be happy to see Meli leave it will leave us without any strike power on the wings next season - for which I am expecting them to moan about that too.

Big-game blunders notwithstanding, he has been our best back for the last four years.

Glad to see he has gone and should have happened 5 years ago. Top professional players simply can't have that many errors in their game.

Salford is his level.

Probably about the right time but still sad. He's been our best back for at least the last 4 years and our only wide threat at all since Gidley faded. He'll be sadly missed and we'll be significantly weaker without him. The plebs who point-blank refuse to remember anything but the GF blunders will no doubt be happy though.

That I totally agree. Meli performed well at centre and we really could have done with Meli in the centres and signed another winger for this year.

Best winger at the club IMO but its the correct decision as we do need to move on and bring fresh approach to the squad.

We just need a few more to follow him and replace them with younger better quality

There was always a question regarding meli's defence but his finishing has been outstanding and still is.

I think St Pete put it well above. He's our most dangerous outside back and is still a good player. But the club needs to kick on and progress and as he'll be 35 by next season, it's the right time to do it.

Giving Wellens a new deal is not acceptable in any scenario, hopefully the club see that.

That's exactly my point. The club has gone stale and a change is needed of a change. I think 5/6 player change over is needed to freshen the place up.

We wouldn't be in this mess if previous coaches and McManus had brought new blood in gradually over the years. We left it to long and this is what we got.

I remember getting slated on here for predicting that this would happen. Even top teams need to bring new blood in and get shut of deadwood. We didnt do that and now we are paying the price.

Good signing for Salford this, put him outside the boy from Melbourne thats one heck of an attacking option.

Always thought he was decent in the centres too.

Gonna be fun next season when we play salford with Walsh's kicking game

then again if the 'tactician' Brown is in charge we'll probably kick the other way

I'd rather face Makinson or Swift than Meli.
