Suspected broken leg/ankle this true ??

I feel sorry for Wheeler, I really do. He's had wretched luck. But it's time to offload. He's taking up a salary and he's putting in less than 1 in 3 games over 5 years. I hope it is just bad luck and he can resurrect his career elsewhere, but we need to move him on and use his place to bring on someone whose bones aren;t apparently made of monster munch.

The guy was absolutely gutted in the changing rooms, he probably knows this was his chance and that could be it for him.

The guy gets injured alot and yes it maybe time to let go, but no need to kick the lad when he's down.

I don't think either Gaskell or Wheeler have grabbed the spot for their own. But those predicting we would not see Gaskell again this year, will have to reconsider. I just hope Wheeler can get his injuries sorted and get a better run elsewhere and good luck to him.

You hold your hand in your mouth every time he plays, and keep your fingers crossed that he will get through the game.

He has heaps of natural talent, but will never show it for as long as he is living the life of a tampon.

I just hope this is the one knock he suffers this season and he can then get back to playing in the first team.

I think half the reason we've not wanted to see him unloaded is the fear that another club will pick him up, sort his injuries and he'd be a star against us.
I really don't think that's ever going to happen now - either that or our medical staff are failing him.

The truth is he's been overrated from day one. You saw him getting overrun in the U20's final back in 2008/2009. He was outstanding as a 16 year old but no one at Saints had the balls to bin him at about 20.

I don't normally bag young players but this love affair at Saints is laughable.

He's a joke. If he leaves and goes on to be good for another club, fine, Saints have done all they can and given him more chances than any player deserves.

He simply cannot be given another chance in the first team.

Bags of potential, great footowrk and the ability to make you go' how about that'. The problem as someone has already alluded to is the 52 games in 5 years. That is simply unacceptable.

I hope for his sake that it isnt a bad one and that he recovers in good speed but i think his time is quickly coming at Saints.

He was the only decent player in a Saints shirt that day. Kicking i think 2 forty twentys and making a couple of breaks.

The reason Wigan demolished Saints was that your pack absolutely battered ours.

FWIW i used to regard Wheeler as a very good young player, but Lomax and Eastmond had the x factor about them.

This injury was caused by him making a very brave tackle on the leeds winger hall. Wheeler dragged him into touch over him and the effect was hall landing on the top half of wheelers body with his legs trapped underneath.

The comment by Sky and Ande that he has only played 52 games in 5 years does not take into account the long periods when he had recovered from injury but Rush / Simmons would not drop the lomasgill combination just to make way for him. He had to wait for some other poor sod to get injured.

He certainly was far from being our worst player tonight.

Those who give stick to Wheeler should be awfully asahmed of themselves. The lad as dreamt of playing for his boyhood club since the age of 4.

He does not choose to be injured. Do i think we should let him go ? Maybe ! But the amount of stick he gets in unreal.

Every so often I come across someone who should have been shot at birth. You and anyone else who brand Wheeler a "joke" because he gets injured fall into this category. Fair enough if you think we should cut our losses and move him on thats your opinion but to brand someone a joke is ridiculous. I'm sure he doesn't enjoy getting injured and seeing his career go down the drain. Idiot.

Whatever the poor sod has done I don’t think he planned it. From the pictures shown on sky of him sat in the dressing room, the guy looked total peed off. I hope his luck improves in the future.

I really felt for him, seeing him the dressing rooms knowing his Saints career could be in the balance. But I've never seen what the fuss is about talent-wise.

Wheeler has shown some real talent when he has been able to play and he has also shown that he is one of the few players in our current squad who has anything like some guile about him.

I feel sorry for Wheeler. His body just isn't made for playing rugby league. It must be frustrating for him and very disappointing for him to have such a fickle body given that he has always wanted to play rugby for his home town club.

This. For a first game in the spot he looked lively and was one of the few players who was supporting ball carriers during the game. Shame that he went off because as soon as he did Leeds went and scored twice down the side he was defending on, same as that GF a couple of years with Shenton.

This is his prove it season for me. I'm sure the club are probably of the same opinion i.e. needs to get appearances under his belt this year as much as playing well. A season without a significant chunk being missed through injury is essential for him to be retained.
