| Phew. I was scared of opening this in case it was a legal summons or offer of a beating.
He's so rubbish. Did you notice they chose not to use video footage? It's hard to make a montage of a guy who falls over himself, gifts the opposition tries with loose carries and knocks on all the time. I hope he is approaching his SL stint professionally and not seeing it as a paid holiday post-retirement from the NRL. He looked badly out of shape towards the end, like watching Robbie Paul at the end of his career versus what he was at the start.

He's still a good player. I think he'll go well but the four years is a worry and huge risk!

I think he'll do well as our reserve back. He can come on and fill a number of roles, a bit like Moore did.
However, we cannot allow Lomax or Gaskell to lose game time for him.

Whilst I agree, I think playing Hohaia at 6 with Lomax at 7 will give us more experience in the halves and help him become a world class 7. As Royce uses a back on the bench weekly, I'd expect Gaskell to take this role and with Lance's versatility can bring Gaskell on at 6 to spell either Wellens, or can move Roby to 13, Lance to 9 and spell another forward which could be a smart use of a back interchange.
Think Lance will prove to be a top signing for us and cant wait to see him over here in the Red V!!
Also, the youtube song in the original post is annoyingly catchy

I honestly think lance will start in the halves.

This would leave us with no kicking game, and would, I think, be a step backwards for us as a team.
Perhaps Lance has an excellent kicking game under his cap, but my suspicion is that if he did he would have been playing half-back in the NRL.

Exactly. Which makes his signing even more mysterious. At the time we signed him we knew Kyle was off, but didn't know for sure if either Lomax or Gaskell were any good. So who did they envisage would be doing the kicking?
Lance and Lomax together is too similar. Both runners rather than schemers and neither of them can kick.
The obvious suggestion is:
1 - Lomax
6 - Hohaia
7 - Gaskell
With Lee kicking and Paul Wellens selling programmes.
But it won't happen. So we'll have either Lomax or Gaskell consigned to a spot on the bench as a utility back. Such a waste of talent.

| If it was up to me our team next year would be:
Wellens
Makinson
Shenton
Wheeler
Meli
Gaskell
Lomax
Perry
Roby
Puletua
Soliola
Wilkin
Laffranchi
LMS
Clough
Flanagan/Magennis
Lance
Lance would play as an impact hooker with Roby moving to 13 to spell Laffranchi (who will play as a prop).
Foster to fight it out with Makinson/Meli for a wing spot, but I rate both players more highly than him and Makinson can kick.
If Wello starts the season poorly (he ended it very well indeed), Makinson to FB and Foster on the wing.

If it was up to me, Meli would be nowhere near our team. Ever again. I will never forgive him for his lousy defence in the 2011 GF. I've had enough of him. Always. Can't wait for him to go.

You think we should swap our backs for Wakefield's, get rid of Clough and that Ryan Hall is too fat.
Forgive me for not being too concerned about you disagreeing with anything I say

From what I have seen, Lance's short kicking game is pretty good so for long distance kicking could use Wilkin or Roby to do this until Gaskell came off the bench in theory??
Will be interesting to see how Royce does play it next year, but we seem to have a good number of options to cover all positions for this season which can only be good, especially with our recent luck around injuries

I suspect that is what will happen, but IMO neither Wilkin nor Roby are consistent enough kickers to take charge of our long kicking game.

I'm going to get shot down for this, but I bought a copy of the 1987 Boxing day game 22-32 the great comeback.
I was amased watching Platty and he looked SO much like Clough it was unreal. Admitted he was a hell of a lot busier in defence but very similar in style.
Our turning point in that game was when Big Stu came on, we never lost a single scrum from that point, shame he was slow.
Suppose this is for another thread.

| dont know if any of you know this but lance is under the impression that he will be playing at number 7 next season according to his twitter account. I doubt he's pulled this number out of thin air i imagine that he was told he would have kyles number as when we signed him we didn't realise how good lomax was.

That's because he was signed to play at 7 and my guess is, that is the number he will have on his shirt. What Simmons may do is rotate the halves. Last season he did say that Gaskell, Pryce and Lomax all trained together. I can see the same thing happening again next season, except obviously Hohaia in for Pryce!
