Still has it, you need Gidley's skills and defence in the side as good centres are very rare but he does add to our problem of no pace. It's not like Gardner is blistering to compensate. Add in no recognised centre on the other side and Meli and you see the problem. Is Soliola quick and athletic? I hope to god he is.

Jamie lyon isn't a world beater, he may have made breaks down his side, but there would be no one in support, like yesterday!!

At the start of the season we were giving him good early ball and he was running in the tries almost every time we got down our opponents end. He has been quiet as a result of that good early ball drying up for whatever reason IMO

I think Gidley has had a solid season, still the best centre in the league by a mile.

Stick him with Meli and let them go go go... who cares about left and right handed/footed winger/centres, jsut get em a gig together and let them rip it up.

gidley is still in Saint's top six players , theres at least five others worse than him

Think old Keef would have something to say about that and so do the stats of Ryan Halls and Ade Gardeners tries.

He does look better on the stats, but Gidley just isn't getting the service he did even last year, which is probably due to our best ball playing second row being used as the opposite centre.

I'd add the halves into that mix aswell. Gidley simply isn't getting any decent ball.

Six, plus five, plus Gidley makes 12. That is why we are not doing well. We should have 17 players.

He has been a great but keeping him on another year may mean that Chris Dean will leave.

anyway, we do actually want some players with experience next year - we cant release every player over the age of 23.

I also wonder whether teams are also looking to concentrate their defence on Gidley's side, knowing we don't have a specialised on the left.

I thinkWarrington may have that award ,depending on who they release.

If you go back to a post I made earlier in the season I suggested Cameron Phelps would have been a good signing for Saints.

Looking at his form of late I'd say that I was correct.
