I don't understand why people are moaning about this. There are several threads about Huddersfield's supposed overconfidence.

They have every right to be confident. They are playing better than we are and are in a much better position that we are with regards to injuries.

They have a cracking chance of beating us at the weekend.

What the hell they supposed to say "No, we dont stand a chance, we might as not well bother coming"?

Its about creating the belief in the Giants camp that they can take on any team on the day, especially the most successeful team in the comp in the past few years.

i agree with what you say, but mason says that he thinks that long and k c are old and past it,

a few years ago, allen hunte said roughly the same in a semi final against leeds, and guess what happend, widnes mouthed off about "dads army" in the final of 76, guess what happend, things where said before the final against wigoon at murrayfield, guess what happend again, let them say whatever they want to, hopefully saints will use it as an extra incentive, and just get on with our own game.

Confidence in camp can be preceived differently from over-confidence and "cheap talk" in the press although alot of it is mis quoted, especially when playing a side that hasnt lost in the comp for over 4 years, and again top of the league ladder.

The biggest challenge saints face is in the forwards, if we can hold our own without Cayless and Maurie than Im more than confident our backs and halves can win us the game.

The only team that can be over-confident for this semi-final is us. Huddersfield know they need to perform. There will be no lack of commitment or concentration by them on Sunday. We need to be on the top of our most clinical game.

except my statement of fact was entirely relevant to the previous discussion in the thread where yours was completely irrelevant. You'd have been as well declaring that the sky is blue or that night follow day. Both facts but irrelevant.

Would you rather the Giants players and fans say we don't stand a chance? You'll still be favourites but with the way our defence is of late, I/we fancy our chances. That's no disrespect to Saints, just the feel good factor most of us Giants fans are experiencing. I'm 36 and never seen us playing as well. One thing is for sure, it should be a good game.

I don't think we will be suffering from over-confidence. In fact, I'm wondering whether we've had a whole lot of confidence all season. If anything, I think we will struggle just to find cohesion given that no doubt our team will change yet again for this match. I don't think we've managed to play the same team twice either because Potter was tinkering (in the early stages of the season) or injuries/illness have forced his hand.

Hudds are a team in transition, to many players coming to retirment age, and to much youth with no experience....

Who's these players coming to retirement age? None as far as I know are retiring at the end of the season.

Ahh the penny has just dropped! I remember reading in the local paper that Margaret, one of the cleaners at the Galpharm, was having a retirement "do" next month. That must be it!!
