since apollo left us there's been far more injuries...wish they could entice him back..the fitness was far more solid when he was here.

I'd be interested to hear how you can prevent an AC joint sprain by conditioning considering it is a bony joint offered no protection from direct impact by any muscle group?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?

It isn't just a question of one injury though. By the end of the season I don't think there will be a player in the squad that hasn't suffered at least one injury; in some instances some players have suffered two or three. And we had the same problem last season. The new coaching/conditioning setup has had a negative impact on our fitness both in terms of injuries and our stamina (as is obvious by how knackered we look at around the halfway point during the second half in every match).

Hopefully Mr Simmons will be a stickler for discipline and fitness like Smith is at the club formally known as the Dire.

But anyway I'm not paid to be physically fit, Cloughy is. I can understand him adding some beef in the gym but he just seems to be inflating at an alarming rate.

The is alot of injuries this year, not just at saints.

On the bbc they was saying the nrl are thinking of playing four 20min spells because of the injuries over there this year.

I think the players are so toned and fit these days that the ain't much protection around joints.

Players are bigger, faster, stronger that the impact is just massive.

Also, the harder grounds play a big part in ankle and knee injuries.

Scott Moore is a different kettle of fish altogether. I didnt think much of him at U16's. Didnt stand out anyway - But a monster now!



Just as a side issue - Blackbrook had a blonde lad in the same team, but at around U14's at the time.
Cant remember his name, but he was clearly well ahead of Cloughie etc and treated like a 'star' by the coach.
He played against our lot (Leyland Warriors) in a tournament final at Leigh Easts ground, and then again at Knowsley Rd during the half-time break at a Saints v Quins game. Tore us apart!

I think he was stand-off - Cant be certain though.
Quite a thin lad, who didnt give the impression of being anything special. But our lot couldnt lay a finger on him!
The thing i remember most though was that he seemed to get personal coaching during the breaks, away from the rest of the team.
The Coach of our boy's said he'd been marked for big things already.
Be interesting to know what happened to him.

You're talking about Dean Mcgilvray 'Deano' who is now at Salford. He was massive at junior level. Centre he was.
