AT = Alex Thompson. nick names ..... Tomo or pigs / piggy with the rugby lot.
BA = How long have you been in Rugby League ?
AT = started playing 4 years old at an old club in Warrington called Laporte diamonds.
BA = Who have you played and coached in Rugby League ?
AT = played at Laporte diamonds and crosfields amateur clubs and then Warrington wolves, Oldham, oxford and Warrington rugby union. I coached crosfields u18s team a couple of years ago which we won the comp that year.
BA = Do you like playing/coaching or watching ?
AT = I enjoy both for different reasons enjoy playing because I enjoy the physicality and crack with the lads but also enjoy coaching younger players to give something back to the game, plus it doesn't hurt as much.
BA = What is your best moment in Rugby League ?
AT = probably making my debut for Warrington wolves first team and scoring in front of all my friends and family. Being made oxfords first ever club captain is a proud moment for me too.
BA = What is your funniest moment in Rugby League ?
AT = it's hard to pick one there has been that many, always lots of laughs when I go out with mates from my amateur club crosfields. A few mad Monday tales are funny too but think they're a bit naughty.
BA = What do you think of Rugby League in the south ?
AT = it's good down South, given time I really think it will grow into a good thing. Already picked out some gems already with the likes of Shaun Morris.
BA = Why did you become a Rugby League player/fan ?
AT = it's in my blood, granddad played a bit of pro and my dad played amateur and is a big Warrington fan so it's all I've known really.
BA = How did you become the ORL player?
AT = got a phone call from tony just before I was about to resign for Oldham where he originally coached me, liked the sound of what they was doing in oxford so give it a go
BA = What is it like working for the ORL ?
AT = good, enjoy being around the place and there is a good back room staff and board down at oxford so it's a pleasure to work with such good people.
BA = Were do you see the ORL in the next 5 year ?
AT = hopefully oxford can keep pushing the way it is and be the strongest out of all the southern clubs, be that in super league of championships
BA = Do you think you can help raise the profile of the ORL ?
AT = me personally probably not no, just keep trying my hardest on the pitch and try get the club some publicity that way.
BA = Can you tell us 5 thinks about the Club?
AT = 1- southern lads aren't as tough as northern lads. 2 - there is too many Irish at the club 3 - I'm the 2nd fastest lad in the team behind Morris
4 - tommy Connick is the smelliest man ever 5 - kits too tight
BA = What would you like from the ORL Blue Army
AT = nothing more than what you boys are doing already, the lads really appreciate your support.
BA = Is there anything you would like to say to the Club, the player and are supporter
AT = just thanks for all the support we are giving us each week and that the lads are always giving 100% it's a young team that's still learning. In a couple of years it will be a really strong club. Thanks everyone.
