I feel like he has had a change of attitude in the offseason. Hopefully, he focuses on his rugby, behaves and is injury free. He does have the potential to be very good if he can achieve this.

It’s interesting how we view this as ‘big’ great news, for a player who has hardly played for past few years. Imagine if someone like Tet had extended! In reality, probably offered similar. Do think we are very rose tinted toward home grown players. Where does the balance between talent-potential/performance lie?
Fwiw I do rate Newman and really hope his body holds up. But is interesting debate imho….

I think this is good news for Harry, Leeds, and our revamped squad. It will take away the cloud of speculation that was building about him leaving to Saints or the NRL, allowing him to focus on his game.

There's definitely a rose tint towards home grown players but you cant really compare Tetavano, he was signed as a NRL grand final winner/ NZ international, who did not live up to the expectation.

Strange take that, Tetevano and Newman simply aren’t comparable in any way.

Not really a comparison or a debate. One is 23 and the other is 33 plus one costs 50k on the cap and the other is 150k.

I get what he is saying though.
Change the comparison to Newman and Fusitua.
Fussy got shed loads of stick yet played as many, if not more than Newman

Again Fusitua will cost more, is older and crucially takes up a quota spot.

There really is no comparison, fus 29, tetevano (stealing a very high salary) 33, Newman 23, doesn't take a quota spot, current England international, been with the club since he was 14, worked his nuts off several times to beat significant injury, now also stating his desire to pay the club back for their support. It's not just apples and oranges, one isn't even a fruit!

Any argument about value for money might best be put on hold until we know how many appearances each makes.

Potentially a great athlete - needs to grow up attitude wise and build on his undoubted talent. Hopefully a full season ahead of him.

I think the way his attitude was last season, he was gone at the end of the season but he has changed and realised giving back to Leeds for a year or two might be more beneficial to both him and Leeds than him trying his hand at NRL etc.

Or maybe his agent has tried to tout him to the NRL who've declined until they see he isn't an injury prone prima donna and want him to have a couple of full seasons in which to stay fit and mature before snapping him up ?

You could be right. Time will tell.
