Ha, hadn't seen the 'away' one. That's even worse than the 'home' one. If it wasn't bad enough that they released a new World Cup shirt for the World Cup they've already released a new World Cup shirt for, they come up with this using the classic England blue. What a joke…

They had already released and sold an England shirt for the World Cup. They have now changed it before the world cup and made it look like a Saints away / Yorkshire shirt.

That said, the fact that I just assumed that was an away shirt tells a story of just how low the expectations of the Oxen shirts are. This has got to be one of the laziest kit releases of all time which is a pretty big achievement for a company who seems to have built itself on being able to churn stuff out on demand.

Oxen's business model seems to amount to constantly releasing "new" stuff, I get emails regularly telling me the new Leeds range, the new England range etc. It is all terrible quality too, even if it looks interesting in the store photos.

England's second new shirt of the summer, replacing the official RLWC 2021 kit before they even started the tournament, its not even an alternative kit which could have been OK. What a bunch of grifters.

They've released 3 England shirts recently;

2021 world cup
All Stars
2022 world cup

Oxen really starting to show themselves up quite badly in all honesty.

You can guarantee if a shirt is released people will complain about it, I don’t see the issue with it. It’s got red, white and blue on it still, just less red and more blue. I will say though £55 for a shirt is on the high end price wise, I won’t be buying one.

I didn’t realise a World Cup shirt was released in 2021, if that’s the case they should have stuck with that, this is the same World Cup that’s just been postponed after all. Can anyone post an image of the previously released, now abandoned World Cup shirt?

Ive got issues with it for a few reasons.

There is way too much Blue and no red in the actual design - this is all the more baffling considering we play in a group where all the other teams play in blue. What was the rationale behind it?

Because this World Cup was postponed a lot of the marketing will be repurposed and a lot of that marketing will have Englands colours being Red &. White, EG take a look at the official RLWC website, every mention of England is visualised with red and white. Even the press shot with Wayne and Ralph Rimmer and Betfred had them holding up red and white scarf alongside a blue and white shirt, it looks like amateur hour

They had already released a kit for this tournament, this means people will have already bought replica kit and merchandise, I understand the Sponsor had changed but they could easily have changed the sponsor without changing the design and colours.

Its just a typical Oxen shirt, no special design details, nothing that makes it look like a special shirt for a special occasion.

Got to say I agree with everything said about oxen, but I'll also say I think it's much better than those awful ones with a massive St Georges Cross on them, thatll be my 'woke liberal leanings'.

I hate the Geroge's cross designs (bar the 2013 one) but they have worn them for over 25 years - if they are suddenly going to abandon it then it needs proper thought out process and not doing 3 months before a tournament for which they had already released a kit for.

I didn't like the St George cross either but red and white are the England colours. Surely something could've been done with a bit more imagination? There are lots of traditional designs that stand the test of time and look classy.

Apparently they wanted to get a V on there for whatever reason and they couldn't do that with red for obvious reasons. I don't know, I'm not much of a traditionalist and think it's nicer than some of the other oxen tat. May get one. The big sponsor splashed on it is the main thing putting me off actually.

They could easily have put a fee on it added some blue and kept the red - it seems they wanted to channel some GB vibes into it - which I disagree with.

Something like this 5 minute photoshop mockup would have been a bit better IMO
