Reluctantly we need to miss out. We’re not one of the best 6 teams, and that needs addressing. More time off, and / or time to prepare for next year is of more value.

Actually, think the first focus is not getting sucked back into the relegation fight. Suspensions and injuries are making it difficult. I don't forsee a wins against Wigan or Catalans with likely absentees. Quite possible that Tolouse will be on 14 points in two weeks time.

Come the end of the year I reckon it'll be Wakefield at the bottom. We will pick up enough points to be hopefully just outside playoffs with some good perfomaces and building well for next year.

Looking at the remaining fixtures Wakey could be in trouble. Saints, Catalans, Wigan and HKR at home and Hull, HKR, Cas and Saints away. Think they have to get maximum points out of the Hull games to stand a chance. Might get a break if Saints have wrapped up the LLS before the penultimate round as they're not averse to fielding a weakened team but they've also got Toulouse in the last match. Round 25 Wigan v Saints should determine where the LLS is going as I can't see either of them dropping any points up to that game. If Wigan get the gap down to 2 points by Round 26 then it could be very interesting. Wigan v Catalans last game? Tasty!

Given we will probably be 10th in 2 weeks time I doubt we will be troubling the play-offs. We will be closer to going down that the play offs by the time we play Salford at home.

I’d always prefer to make the play offs if we can. Having a longer pre-season by 1 or 2 weeks won’t make any difference to 2023.

I think we will be better next year as long as we avoid an injury crisis.

For smith I think 2024 will be key as he will be able to make this more his side and about half the salary cap will be up for review by end

When you look at both the Wire and Leeds roster both teams should be nowhere near the bottom.
Wire in particular who scraped a win against Hull and beat us when we were down to 11 men.
Those two wins are 2 losses and they are joint bottom.
I too would love us to be top 6 but wouldn`t be shocked if we finish out of it this year.
Another rebuild next year then.

This thread is bizarre and it’s unbelievable some fans don’t want us to make the play offs.

I'd prefer us to finish top six, if only because it'll be a less painful watch than if we finish, say, tenth. Apart from that I think it'll make bog all difference. We might get longer to rest/prepare if it's the latter but soon as Tetevano and Bentley pick up their first bans of the new season and Sezer pulls up then it'll be business as usual..

Id be Amazed if we reach the play offs, il be relieved when we're officially safe at this point. When you assemble a squad that are a rare mixture of stupid and injury prone...Resulting in at least half the salary cap sat in the stands way too often, its virtually impossible to put a run together, as we found last night.

The focus has to be on performances and setting up for next year. Even if everyone is fit we're way too small up front to take on the best, so finishing in the play offs won't mean much even if we get there. I don't think one week extra rest will make much difference as that's about how long we'll last in the playoffs.

There’s little between 6th and 10th, I think any club in that group could finish 6th and any club in that group could finish 10th, it’s still all to play for.

We definitely can make the play offs, which I think is ridiculous, it really does highlight that 50% of the league making the play offs is just too many.

The play offs should be top 4 only, Semi Final play off week 1 with 1v4 and 2v3 then the Grand Final the week later is what it should be.

We arnt capable of having enough players available, for long enough, to put any kind of decent run together, a problem that has plagued us for what feels like forever. Saturday summed it up perfectly, coming off 2 great wins, playing against the bottom team, confidence high...Then we see the squad...Too much cap missing to mention and another chance missed.

I agree that we'r good enough if something suddenly changes and our fare share of players are fit and available, but that never happens for long enough.

We’re 1 point off 6th place with a far superior points difference to the clubs 1 point ahead of us. Of course 6th place and the play offs are within reach.

Plenty said we had no chance of winning against Wigan. The first job is to make the playoffs, if we do make it anything can happen, you’d have to have a very short memory not to realise that.

Bit of a difference between winning one home game and making, progressing in and winning a GF!
Also a big difference between the quality of squad we have now vs the quality of squad we had when we won it from fifth.
