Would have been even better as a curtain raiser tomorrow night

I loved the curtain raisers back in the day with burrow, maguire and chev et al coming through, it would be great if they were all curtain raisers again but think the club are doing right by stanningley who get all all the proceeds from the games we play there. Think its a fine balancing act the club are trying to achieve of listening to the fans and bringing a few curtain raisers back but still having a lot of games at stanningley and helping one of our community clubs get a bit of extra income.

This has been a superb performance by our youngsters tonight. Really enjoyable watch and they’ll be tough to beat this season.

McLelland kicking game has been superb. Forwards class.

Can only imagine what Jarrod OConnor and Sam Walters will add to this team.

Impressed with the usual suspects tonight. Holroyd and Mustapha very strong. I hope these lads want to stay together now and achieve something together, because there’s some real quality and balance to this side I’ve not seen for a very long time.
I actually thought Wakey looked good in patches and they never gave up.
This U19s compares quite well with the period where the Goldens came through. In fact we’re going to have to make some smart calls on who we retain over the next few years - e.g. full backs with Walker, Golding, Whitton, Stephens. Centres also (especially with Watkins and Hurrell on long-term deals). Especially pleased with the academy pack though - there are a few excellent players at other clubs but we have the majority of the England forwards now. We have size but the lads can also play, which is fantastic.

How was the stream for everyone? Mine was fine for the game but didnt get any aftermatch reaction, just a fuzzy green screen!!

Really enjoyed the game, our forwards and McCllellend were outstanding.

That pack really is very strong. Tommy The Tank and Muizz was both outstanding.

The first 20 mins was sensational. This is a very very good 19s team.

McLelland showed touches of class, Broadbent has Always looked better as a left centre.

Really pleased with the display. Onto Widnes next week now.

Thought McClelland was the real star of the show. Some individuals gave a good account in patches, but McClelland really made it all tick. And Corey fed off it all night to keep the forwards powering.

Walters is an outstanding prospect, i am really excited about what he could become, O’Connor - to be honest, I don’t really understand his signing, he just doesn’t seem to have much about him and with the quality already in the squad it seems a weird one.

Similar reasons we signed Donaldson I think - attitude and character.

Does anyone how Lewis Delaney is ?
Looked like he picked up a serious injury which would be a shame, he's looking pretty dangerous on the edges.

Owen Trout and Muizz Mustapha have gone to Dewsbury on month loans according to our website. Sam Walters makes his debut for the academy tomorrow... against widnes of all teams!

It looks like they’re being lined up for imminent first team action. Holroyd is close too.

Holroyd needs to convince coaching staff he's tough enough to be loaned out at the moment never mind 1st team. He cried out of Keighley game other week with a twinge.

Tommy is outstanding against he's own age group but we need to make sure we don't rush him. He will get there I'm sure but we need to be patient with him.

I don't think I've ever seen someone who weighs as much as Holroyd does at 17. He needs time to allow his body to adapt.

It’s not just his weight it’s his mobility too; I also like his aggression. He has everything but hopefully his mentality is there too.

Was mentioned again on the U19 commentary last week...120kg at his age.

On Holroyd, he looked better than all the Aussie forwards, every one of them is contracted to NRL clubs. Not saying he ready for SL yet but I’d like to see him get the odd game or 2 this season.

I agree, he doesn't need rushing but if can prove he's tough enough mentality he needs 5 games off the bench. He is a terrific prospect.

I don't think I remember seeing a better prop coming through the academy at his age. Ward and Bailey, even L Burgess looked good but Holroyd is certainly more damaging going forward.

When Furner was in the side that finally broke our long wait for a trophy, there were 10 academy products in the 17, including some outstanding talents, and the overseas/other signings were of real high quality. It's not necessarily a guarantee of success if we get back to this kind of ratio again, but it's what we built the Golden Era on and I think this side would paste the 2019 version I have to say. Front row of Oledzski, Johnson, Holroyd would whet the appetite in a couple of years.
