If Newman actually plays on the wing rather than in the centre's, then Furner is weighing up his possible starting wingers for 2019.
IMO Newman is an out and out centre all day long and is not a winger (......although if he has to start out there if given a chance)

Reading YEP it seems that Smith will be Stand off for the game. Which potentially means Newman to Centre, Walters to LF, Golding or Whitton on the wing.

I’d play Smith at stand off, Newman at centre, Golding and Briscoe at wing. The point of this game would be look at these players in the same positions they might cover in the first team for me.

Good to see Kyle Kesik get his testimonial. He is another one who used to stand on a stool in the South Stand to watch his heroes.

Looks like we’ve got some good numbers this season after that performance. Trout and Smith absolute class. Broadbent, Whitton, McConnell and Spence putting in good shifts.

Agree with all that, Trout looks like a good un, it was a decent display without getting carried away as Doncaster were not very good. I also thought Donaldson went about his job in a very efficient way and young Muizz Mustapha did a fair amount of work and showed he will be a very good addition. well done all in those very cold and blustery conditions (I was freezing)

That lad Trout certainly doesn't look like a fish out of water!!

Just watched the highlights on club website. Some big performances there, yes Doncaster are not a good side, but Trout looked impressive, Cameron Smith looked class, are we about to see him start a revival of the classic ball playing 13, when he plays we have to just let him get the ball in his hands.

This game reminds me of a friendly against Keighley 2002, when a young leeds side made keighley look like an under 15 team. Burrow McGuire etc just went through them like a knife through butter. There are 5-6 at least, of our first teamin 2-3 years.

Nice to watch Cam Smith being used as the footballer he is. He looks to have lost a bit of weight and he needs to be in the 17 most weeks for me.

You can't read too much into this game as the opposition was poor but it was nice to see us using dummy runners let's hope that's a sign of things to come.

Trout looked massive, it's scary to think (for opposition) he has another year at Academy level, he looked a real handful.

Using what now!? That will never catch on. I'm off to write a strongly worded letter to the powers that be because this will just not do...

Agree that Cam Smith should be in the 17 most weeks. In fact I'd be tempted to let him play loose, with Merrin, Ferres, Ward, Ablett, JJB, Donaldson covering second row. What is nice is to have such a talented player coming through who is a natural fit for a position. We have a lot of skilful players who we should let play. Trout isn't far off either - needs to bulk up a bit over time but again, athletic for a tall lad and skilful. Second coming of Steve Menzies maybe!
