| Just to gather popular opinion on here.
Who do you all want to see as the next long term coach of the club?
To keep it simple if you like you could name your choices in a 1,2,3 order,or even go into detail as to why you believe that your choice would be the best at handling our transition in order to take our club back to being the best and most successful club in SL for another "Golden Generation"
My choices are:
1icon_biggrin.gifave Furner
He has done his apprenticeship in the NRL and has studied under some of the games best coaches
IMO he is ready to show his talents as a head coach again after his tough spell at the Raiders.
Furner also impressed the Rhinos hierarchy with his professionalism and attitude during his spell at the club and that will be an important factor when they compile their list of potential candidates
2:Jason Demetriou
Another coach who has had a very successful coaching career in the NRL lower leagues since his retirement as a player,I don't envisage that he will land a top gig in the NRL so maybe a top job in SL would be his best option
He is also relatively young and is also very hungry to be given a chance to be a head coach
He must have surely picked up a lot of the skills and techniques required from the forefront of the NRL during his time over there in each of his roles
3icon_biggrin.gifaryl Powell
Daryl has had a previous experience of being head coach at the club and brought numerous players through from our academy that ultimately went onto be part of our "Golden Generation".
Admittedly he was relieved of his duties and was replaced by Tony Smith before the glory years finally came, but IMO Daryl can take great credit for the work he did prior to TS's appointment,Gary Hetherington knows full well that Daryl has now matured as a coach and he will undoubtedly be high up on his list of preferred candidates
Would he ever leave Cas and come back?
I'm not sure as he has turned the Tigers into genuine GF winners and has them up in the top 4 yet again despite all of their injuries.
Surely Powell would like to see a return for his investment there?
If he did come back then he would obviously need a "Witness protection scheme" to keep him safe from the Tigers fans baying for his blood

| Fitler, Flanagan, Robinson, Buderus, McGregor, Stacey Jones, Jim Dymock, would be my preferred.
But happily accept Demetriou or Furner.

| Hopefully should be Powell, Furner or Demetrieu but knowing our luck we'll probably end up with Betts.....at least until the end of the season as not sure we could get an Aussie over that quickly (Visas etc?) and Cas are never going to give us permission to speak to Powell.....so come on down Betts.
IF we could hang in in the top 8's I don't really think it matters if we cannot get our '1st choice over, BUT if we end up in middle 8's and by the look of tonight's game we are going to be in the bottom 4 come 10-00pm, then I cannot see GH wanting us to go into the middle 8 campaign with a combo of Eaton, Lowes etc in charge

| I forgot to add Rowley to my list, because unlike others I actually think he is the best British coach.

| Ideally it would have been Powell, but that looks unlikely.
Out of the rest I’d actually prefer Furner, then Demetriou. If we had a more stable playing group over the next couple of years it could be the other way around, but I think we need some experience in the dugout if we are going to lose it on the field.

| I'd suggest the Walker brothers have also been found out a bit. Their style won the Queensland Cup but they then lost a bunch of players and haven't done so well since - just goes to show its always as much the quality of the players as the coach that determines success.
I'm not sure Furner would be interested today, as there's every chance Souths will go a long way this year. Also, whilst he may get another head coach gig, his time at the Raiders wasn't a roaring success.

I don’t really want Jimmy Lowes short term, and definitely not long term. Not much longer to hold our breath now.

Me neither but strong rumour this morning that it's going to be him in temporary charge rest of season.
I hope it's wrong.
Can today get any worse for us given the news that it looks like we've also lost out on Blake Austin to Warrington for next season

| Personally speaking I would be underwhelmed by Furner which is who I expect to be named as long term replacement. Do we really want another ex-forward as coach? Will he really get us playing the style of rugby Leeds RL needs to play? I really aren't so sure.
The Walker Brothers seem to play joke rugby don't they? Short drop outs and kick offs, running it from anywhere on last. No thanks.
I suspect it's going to be Lowes in temporary charge until Furner arrives but we will see this morning. If that's the case I will be fuming. Old Kiss the Bulls Badge should never have been allowed thru gates of Headingley again.
Daryl Powell would be the ideal choice but that isn't going to happen.
I would be happy with Tony Smith for a couple of years until Rob Burrow is ready to step up.
Whatever happened to Paul Deacon? Or if Daryl Powell's style of play is so badly craved at Headingley why not go for his assistant Ryan Sheridan?
In reality it will be Furner I think and another couple of years of biff n barge looming. May as well have stuck with McDonut. Ok maybe not.
