| The stewards at Hull are a special breed.
Remember one year being on the back row of the old away end, and being told we couldn't stand up because we were blocking the TV camera's view of the sponsors logos.

| Don't have a go at the stewards, they are just applying rules given to them, they are doing their jobs.
What happens if they are caught not applying the rules by their bosses? What if the guy leaning on the chair somehow fell and injured his neck or head. The steward would then be in deep sh*t because he was there and didn't apply the rules.

Sadly this is true. As the blame=claim culture continues so do the stupid application of rules. You just wish those in mock-authority positions would apply some common sense at times.

Yup, We live in world of rules and regulations. If ever a regulation seems overly pedantic, it's probably only because someone else in the past through their own greed and lack of self responsibility has prompted it.
I suppose it's wrong of me to say such things though, wouldn't that be ''victim blaming''?

"Have you ever had a trip or fall at work?"
"How about accepting that sh*t happens and that you could've probably avoided it if you'd been more vigilant?"
If only the day comes that advert appears on tv.

Depends doesn't it. If you have a trip or fall at work that wasn't your fault or due to the carelessness of someone else or your workplace then I'd say you're probably due some kind of redress.
If you trip or fall because you weren't looking where you were going then it's your own silly fault.
As for the stewards, I agree to a point with those saying they have strict rules to apply and if they don't they'll be in trouble and at risk of losing their job. Especially in a job such as stewarding where I imagine the majority of them are on zero hours contracts or don't have many employment rights to rely on.
However they still have to exercise a modicum of common sense. For instance the example of the 2005 GF is just daft. I've been pleased to see the stewards in the South Stand using some common sense and only enforcing the yellow gangways when it's necessary and not the instant someone has half a foot over the yellow line.
Though of course most of this could be avoided by having properly trained, properly motivated and suitably employed staff with proper levels of junior management. Something which has been steadily eroded in workplaces in this country over the last few decades.

| Think I jinxed myself with that earlier comment. Slipped on the outside steps at my mates house tonight and my legs ended up higher than my head and my hip/spine made a lovely smacking noise on the concrete......meant to be running the Leeds 10k in the morning too, that'll be interesting.

Had your mate painted the steps yellow? Did he have 'slippery steps' signs visible? You may have a case for the bottom of the barrel legal community.

| On our first ever visit to the KC we were threatened with being thrown out for 'smoking' chocolate cigarettes.

How did you get on? Were you running with the Foundation or for another Charity?

No it wasn't for the Foundation, the fall did mess me up quite a bit with my back/hip in some pain so instead of the 51/52 mins area it was over the hour mark instead unfortunately but at least I managed to make the end I suppose.
