| If Leeds hadn't won the treble last year and instead had finished in 3rd, 4th or 5th place, played in the GF but lost and won the Challenge cup, would you still be backing McDermott or would you expect the club to have replaced him by now?

| He'd have been sacked. No doubt. It would have been three years without a GF or a LLS and that's unacceptable for Leeds in the modern era. Not as unacceptable as what's happened this season, but still.
But we DID win the treble, and that's a MASSIVE 'but'. Even with that, credit is running out.

| If the players had fallen short in the league and playoffs then I think it's possible we'd actually be having a better year now.
Hypothetical question. We were on for the treble in 2014 with a few league games to go, had we not collapsed and we went on to win the LLS and the GF for the treble in 2014 would we have won a treble or anything in 2015? Would they have overhauled the attack in the off season that saw us go from not scoring nowhere near enough points to scoring the most in the competition off the back of a 2014 treble?

| The reason I ask this question is because we came mighty close to losing against Huddersfield which would have handed the LLS to Wigan and put us in 2nd or even 3rd position in the league (can't quite remember).
But for some luck in the GF we could have again lost to Wigan who were leading for much of the game and, if the truth be told, looked like the winning side after they came out from the half time break. They were awesome until 20 minutes into the 2nd half.
That would have left us with just a convincing Challenge Cup win against a weak and shell shocked Hull KR.
The 2015 season would have been considered a disappointment. McDermott would, I'm sure, be a gonner by now.
Was he saved by a last second chip kick over the top from McGuire and a little bit of luck in the GF?

Whilst I get what you're aiming I think the bit about luck in the GF is wrong. We were the better team in the 1st half and led or were level for most of it. Yes they did rip us in the opening 20 of the 2nd half but we controlled the final 20 really strongly and they didn't come close to scoring and struggled to get out of their half.
Also whilst it might be considered lucky that McGuire came up with that chip, it was also unlucky for him to have that great try ruled out at the DW for obstruction and had that been allowed and we won then the LLS would've been won before the last game.

| There is a ifs and buts all over sports.Fergie was famously saved by a lee martin equaliser late in an FA cup tie in the late 80s when Man utd were preparing to pull the trigger and that goal led to an FA cup win and the rest is history.
If England didn't take the last gasp wicket they needed in the second test in the 2005 ashes we would have likely suffered another series defeat and never lifted the psychological hold the Aussies had over us for years.
Fact is you need a little bit of luck in sport its the nature of the beast.Last season happened and Mcdermott and the team earnt that bit of luck and took advantage of it to the full so should be fully comended for that. To answer your question, yes the clamour right now would certainly be too great for GH to ignore had we not achieved what we did last year. It feels to me like the club needs a change right now though and by leaving the current regime to lurch into another season and delaying the inevitable would be a big mistake but we will see.

| You could a load of what if's?
Had Jordan Tansey's Magic weekend try vs the Bulls hadn't been given we could've finished 3rd......never having that ding-dong 8-6 belter vs Saints in the playoffs and who then knows if we even reach let alone win the GF.......if not then Tony Smith's spell in charge would've been viewed differently had he not added to the 2004 success.
Had Lee Smith's 2nd try in the 2009 GF not been given then maybe we don't win the hat trick title.
Had Peacock and McGuire not suffered hose serious knee injuries in 2010 then maybe it'd have been 4 on the trot and perhaps McDermott doesn't struggle so badly at the start of 2011 when they miss the first part of the season.
Had Tom Briscoe not dropped that ball vs Catalans in the 2014 playoffs then maybe we go on in the playoffs and it's not a Saints vs Wigan final and Ben Flower doesn't become public enemy number 1?
The list is endless.

| Replace him with who?
He will go at the end of the year unless he produces a miracle
atm we dont look like finishing in the top 8, for me he looses his job if we finish lower than 6th

| As a hypothetical question its perfectly valid, and I'm sure the answer would be that in the alternative scenario for last year with this year as is, BM would have gone some time ago.
As for luck, that makes a difference at the margins, but you have to be close enough for it to matter. Also McGuire's chip wasn't luck - it was skill from him and Hall reading it that enabled it to happen.

The one coach I am sure all Leeds fans would have picked as ideal at the start of 2016. Still is IMO.
