Not true. Leeds retained the Yorkshire Cup in the 1976/77 season with a two try MOTM performance by Les Dyl. The Yorkshire Cup was traditionally played early season with the final held in or around October.

1974 was indeed a blank calendar year for Leeds (Lazenby Cup apart) but as seasons ran from September to May and Leeds won a trophy in both the 73/4 and 74/5 seasons not sure it carries a large significance. Leeds in the 70's were really quite adept at picking up a trophy of some description each season albeit there were more to go at.

John Holmes was captain of that Yorkshire Cup winning side and Chris Sanderson was on the bench although I don't recall him getting on. In light of this week's opponents on another April day in Salford, never forget the risks players take for our entertainment.
