Unsung Hero I hope he has a bumper testimonial

Cracking news... It may be my warped view on things, but I'd much prefer to throw my cash into a testimonial for someone like Ablett than one of the higher profile players like Sinfield/Peacock etc as he's the sort of bloke that definitely won't be in a position to live off his earnings or reputation (as a pundit etc) post career, but is in my opinion the sort of player titles and successful teams are built on.

Vastly underrated, but has a huge influence on the performance of the team, well deserved and hope he earns a fair wedge from it.

I wasn't overly sold in the very early days i admit but he has become a cornerstone of the pack and still has a few years left too. vastly underated player really but one you can always rely on to stand up in the big games.Truly well deserved.

Given that he's on the pitch as much as he was when he played, I hope Warrington turn up and Briers is still 'water carrier' for them.

I feel for the players like Ablett that are getting testimonials at the back end of so many. As said it's thoroughly deserved but there's a danger the Leeds public have testimonial fatigue given how many we have had. What a golden period.

I'll take this opportunity to pat myself on the back as I recall kopping some flakk on here when I said we'd be OK after Ellis' departure as Ablett would blossom. I'd also like to pat Sal Paradise on his back as he's recognised and stated Ablett's talented from the very early days.

Was often the hero we needed rather than the one we wanted. I think it is testament to his quality that he was so often able to put in quality performances which may not have been expected. We saw players like Pryce leave clubs to play in their preferred position and it cannot be easy to go through pre-season building a body for 2nd row then have to adjust mid year to regular work at centre. Ablett often put the team ahead of himself.

I see a lot of Ablett in Sutcliffe, frame of a forward, skills of a back, I hope Sutty can get a more settled position earlier as I always felt it a little unfair on Ablett that a player of his quality and potential was sometimes a fill-in, a role to his credit he filled outstandingly.

Agree about this point and his efforts at centre over the years. He's won more GF's playing there than his preferred position. Do think if he'd have started his first team career as a centre and stuck their constantly throughout his career then he'd have probably gotten himself a chunk more England appearances such is the lack of choice in the England centres over the years.
