| As usual, utter gash from the Afro'd wonder tonight. Nonexistent positioning, missed tackles all over the shop, couldn't catch the kickoff or call for a high ball. He offers us f**k all and the sooner he's shipped off to Hunslet on a permanent basis the better. At least the likes of Mulhern, Handley, Robbie Ward etc. have either been steady or actively put their hands up and demanded to be picked. Every time Golding has played he's looked like someone who's going straight back to the 19s as soon as we have a first teamer fit.
Will never be make it, let's cut our losses and find someone decent.

| I think your talking out of your bottom mate.
He got more confident as the game went on, and looked very good running the ball. I agree in a lot of aspects he looked out of his depth, but to say he is utter gash is just nonsense.
I am sure had we moved him up to halfback and put Moon to fullback, the result may have been different. He would have give us good options I the halves.

| He occasionally caught the ball, and sometimes even got it back to where it landed before getting tackled. Shocking all round. Jogging back to take ball that was going in-goal despite saints defenders bearing down on him. No confidence to take the ball into contact with pace. Getting the ball in the line and having no bloody clue what to do with it.
If he's a half back, he should play at half back. There is no way he will ever be a fullback in Super League.

| Blimey....some people can be very blinkered. Thought he made a couple of good last line of defence tackles (alright he's no Hardaker, but then nobody in SL is either); he seems to have a decent sidestep on him and nearly scored but for Quinlan's tackle. He seemed to grow in confidence and didn't do anywhere near "a Dixon". Thought he really did okay.

| Dixon at least looked like he might create something - one of the few Hull KR players last weekend who did. Golding looked like he'd do nothing except screw up.
He was abysmal against Wire, had to be moved to the wing against Salford he was so bad, was anonymous against Hull and gash again tonight.
Being an academy lad doesn't get you a free pass on being a e player. I'd rather re-sign Lee Smith than keep Golding.

Yes, yes, yes, no.
You don't get credit for picking up the ball as any five year old can do if you're so far out of position you lose us 20m to do so.
Anyone, please? Name something that Golding has ever done that has made him look like he'll make it at this level? Because I count losing us the London (2014) and Wire (2015) games and nearly losing us the Salford away match in the 'against' column, with 'a half break off the back of someone else's play that nearly scored a try but didn't' in the 'for' column.
He's a w@nk player and should off to a w@nk side like Dewsbury or Sheffield.

| Either you are trolling or you are very, very blinkered.
Golding is no Hardaker, to hold an academy project to the same battle Hardend standards of a full time pro is not only laughable but frankly batsjit lunacy.
We handed stains that game on a platter with our lax concentration and poor handling, granted you could argue Golding was as lax fielding some of the kicks but c'mon, washing a bloke out after 2 baddish (arguable) games? Welcome to Substandard.

| Sometimes you have to credit the kick, and Saints' kicking game was in a different stratosphere to ours tonight. Walsh could've played in his suit.

| How many games do you want to give him? 5 more? 10? How many times does he have to be cack before we ship out? He is yet to put it one, ONE performance that says 'I am a super league player and I am good enough to play next week'. Every time he plays he looks a hundred miles off the pace, and like someone who deserve to disappear back to second grade rugby as soon as humanly possible.
Every single one of Hardaker, Watkins, Stevie Ward, Sutcliffe, Singleton, Walters & Robbie Ward came into the side as unknowns - every single one of them put in at least one display that said they were worthy of getting picked.
Golding's had the same opportunity as the likes of Tom Bush, Michael Coady - more opportunity than George Elliott got.
Next time Hardaker can't play, Ash Handley (you know, the guy people were saying shouldn't get dropped for Tom Briscoe) should come in at FB ahead of Golding - shockingly, exactly the same as in the 19s, where they can recognise that Handley is going to make it and Golding isn't.

| May as well copy my post from the other thread...:
I can't say I've noticed Golding much before tonight, but on tonight's showing he's not a bad player. Pretty agile and came up with a few tough catches. If the attacking team is on your line and get the kick right, as a fullback there will be times where even if you do all you can, you're still going to concede a drop out. Fullback is probably the toughest position to play if you aren't used to the standard, because you are constantly isolated, which means every mistake is glaringly obvious. The fact that none come to mind (bar the kick off, where the blame was shared between 3 of them) is proof enough that for his age he's not too bad a player.
Another thing is, we had Walsh, Burns, Roby and Wilkin all kicking tonight. For territorial kicks, a fullback will (ideally) set up on the kicker's outside foot, because kickers are always going to try and avoid kicking across their body. The option of 4 kickers means your back 3 can't really do this which puts a lot more pressure on them. Especially with Wilkin on the blind side on the left, there were times where Briscoe would have to stay in the defensive line as a result and it was Golding and Hall covering the width of the pitch. That is a difficult task for any fullback, nevermind a 19 year old who's got very little first grade experience.

I think you are being hard on the lad. I am not certain at this stage if he will make the grade or not. As the game progressed I thought he improved. So he does not warrant your criticism. One or two senior players were off form so that did not help matters.

I think there's more to this than you jokingley suggest. For some reason I myself don't like players with long hair. I unintelligibly decide a player must be rubbish just based on their inexcusable choice of hairstyle.
I decide Gene Ormsby was going to be useless before I'd seen him take to the field, and my pre-conceived judgement proved correct. Ashton Simms is just a bafoon.
Morrissey once said that long hair on a man is an unpardonable offence, which should be punished by death. I wouldn't go this far but I understand the sentiment.
Getting back to Golding, well I'll never, ever write off a young player who plays in SL before they are physically ready. Coming off second best, not being able to physically impose yourself is going to happen frequently. He looked to grow in confidence as the game went on and became more involved in the attack. If he had more upper body strength giving the opportunities to fend then he could have looked more dangerous. He maybe turn out to be a couple of inches undersized to make it at FB but there's no way I'd write him off yet.
