| Very good player pace a passing game and knows how to score and make a clean break. A player we should be looking at.

| A player who looks good in a dominant team within a predominantly part-time environment. A SL player at a team with ambitions to win stuff? Meh?

| A class act. Can pass left or right, long or short. Good kicking game and pace to burn. Compare him to the ever increasing pondorous half backs we have now and it's a no brainer

| There was an article / interview with him in the programme for the finals day yesterday; it said before the world cup he had been talking to one of the Aussie media guys online and in the end was invited along to watch them and Cooper Cronk ended up taking him under his wing somewhat and has stayed in regular touch with him since. I guess that in itself arguably suggests there is something decent there; why would you bother going out your way to help support and advise someone playing lower-league rugby on the other side of the world otherwise?
He was good yesterday, but then Leigh were simply faster in body and mind all over the pitch than Feath. It looked / seemed that Leigh are set up to maximise what players like him can offer them. I don't know that this would fit the same at Leeds; his talents would be minimised a bit because we don't play in the same way.

| But didn't McShane and Buderus' paths actually cross, rather than in this case where the professional appreciation and support has come when it would have been a lot easier to not stay in touch with Brierley or offer him any training and tips?
I understand the point being made though about admiration from a repsected international does not always necessarily mean that the 'prospect' will actually end up amounting to anything incredible.

That is not necessarily Buderus' fault.

Yes, because that's exactly what I said. In those exact words.
Brierley has suddenly erupted on the consciousness as the next big thing since Leigh have been dominant at that level. Not sure where all this mercurial talent was when he was failing to get a game in three years at Cas.

See the other posts, regarding cooper Cronk. And the lad just appears to applied himself and had the benefit of a first team run

| Aiton is no superstar, but he is fit enough to actually get to dummy half most of the time. The same has not been true of McShane in the recent past.

| Leigh also had a full back who was touted as the next big thing Greg McNally. Despite time spent at SL clubs he is what can happen when you go from being a big fish in a small pond to a small fish.
If you look at Finn at Cas he now looks like what he is - a championship player out of depth at this level

| I didn't realise that having won on Sunday, Leigh aren't actually getting promoted. I had (incorrectly, clearly) understood that the promotions came in to effect now so that from 2015 the league will contain teams promoted from the league below.
London and Bradford are getting relegated because the league is cutting down to 12 so no-one is actually coming up, yes? I have clearly overlooked this fact.
Does that similarly mean Hunslet aren't actually going up, having won against Oldham? Or is it different again for them?

Leigh aren't being promoted to SL. If they were there'd have to have been 3 relegated from SL (luckily for Wakefield).
Hunslet are being promoted. The Championship is, like SL, also being reduced from 14 to 12 teams. So to include the 2 relegated teams from SL, the promoted team (Hunslet) from Championship One and to reduce from 14 to 12, it needs to relegate 5 teams.

| You would hope that if we were looking at Ryan (and I would hope that we are) that a deal would already been concluded, instead of us sitting on our hands while other teams go past us.
Even if we did sign him, he could be loaned back a la Hardaker.

| Over hyped just Like Mcnally was when he was at Whitehaven the supposed next big thing.
The hype got him a 3 year contract at Giants where he played academy for them throughout, only figuring in one end of season First team game in 3 years.
Brierley Not a great half back, very good poacher and very good backing up but defence is usually poor although it has improved a bit. Not an organiser or a typical scrum half really.
If you could put his bit of pace into the other half back Ridyard then you would have someone who maybe could step up, and is head and shoulders above brierley.
Cas had him for years and knew all the flaws that he had and that outweighed the positives hens letting him go for nowt.

I seem to remember a massive clamour for us to sign Neil Turley as a replacement for Brett Mullins / Francis Cummins / Ben Walker / whoever else fancied a go at full back in those days.
Whatever happened to him?
