Going out on a limb here, but I'm guessing that in terms of the annual budget for Leeds Rugby Jason Booth's salary is a drop in the ocean.

Indeed and he will have to be replaced if the club wants the team to continue doing as much work as they have been and keeping the pitches to such high standards.

Time for a change IMO. The quality of the pitch in 2013 was nowhere near that of 2012. It should have been dug up much earlier and the perennial rye grass replaced with a mixture of sheep's fescue, red fescue and creeping bent. No coincidence that Wigan won the double and that their pitch is replaced every year.

The problem with building up the myth that your pitch is of the very finest quality available to mankind is that your first team start to believe it and lose sight of the fact that 50% of their league games have to be played on other pitches that are less than the finest known to mankind, furthermore 100% of their home games are being played against opposition for whom the finest pitch known to mankind comes as some sort of massive stimulus to perform better.

If they need advice on grass then come to my garden, I replaced the back lawn last year with a layer of black linen and a topping of tree bark which my dog cannot now kill by performing his ablutions on it every morning.
