He can't even get a game when the no9 is dropped
Good luck to him wherever he ends up

| Looks like Hethrington is quite happy to see him depart, in veiw of his yorks post comments. On the few occasions I have seen him play he looked to have some potential . Obviously the coaching team don't think he will make the rhinos standard. Time will tell who is right or wrong.

| This is typical of Leeds on how they have treated their former u20s team. The Lost Generation I seem to remember them being called. Only Singleton and Keinhorst have survived the cull and they really haven't been treated like the u19s that have come through.
I was all for youth coming through but the way they are treated is a joke. Look at the Baldwinson fiasco! £13k a year.
A friend of mine's son has just been offered professional papers at both Leeds and Cas. Mine and the casting vote are; go to Cas and you might end up playing a professional game. At Leeds you won't.
As for you guys who will say Foster, Duckworth, Minns etc have come through. This is all to do with injuries and GH trying to get them signed on mediocre wages -
"lets give a taste and they will sign for £4.50 per hour".
See you all at Hunslet next year in Championship 1. Well they can only play 5 so the rest will be doing a Vickery.

| If he ends up starting at hooker for another SL club in 2014, I'll be very surprised.
Can see him dropping down a level with a view to trying to get back into SL that way.
As for their being a "lost generation" that somehow Leeds have allowed to slip through their fingertips, how many of these players are at other SL clubs?

Leeds' treatment of young players will always appear ruthless compared to most others. We produce a relatively high number of decent quality youngsters but the bar for making the first team, containing a number of current internationals, is also set high. No surprise that plenty end up going elsewhere and no surprise that a good number make the grade at places such as Cas.

| Why the hell he wasn't loaned out to a super league side to gain experience, when it was obvious McDermott was never going to change the set up he wants, I do not know.
I have said it before and will say it again, playing at Hunslet will do absolutely nothing to develop players into super league players. It is a way of getting game time only, because they are too old for the clubs back up set ups. Playing super league is the only way youngsters will develop further.

Do we know that any SL clubs wanted him or thought he was good enough to be in their 17 every week?

Yes some of us do and when the club have been approached and asked about a possible loan the coach has turned it down and said we need him.
There has been quite a bit of interest in Liam from other clubs and the first thing they ask is What has he done wrong because they cant understand why he hasnt had a look in at all this year after a decent few games last year and how he was being talked up to be a rising star
If what I have heard is correct he wont be the only young player leaving the club

| Trademark spin article from GH's very own batman at the YEP
Rising star Hood hasn't been anywhere near a first team appearance this season because he stood up to a first team bully who has a reputation for picking on young academy kids or anyone smaller than himself.
Hood has been on the outer ever since he decked that first team bully with just the one punch at the post Grand Final party at Headingley last October.

| What's all this revisionist nonsense about Hoods performances last year? He scored a couple of good opportunist tries in TV games, however I saw nothing to suggest his dummy half work was anywhere near the standard required.
On the contrary, his distribution was woeful.

Wigan - McIlorum & Tomkins
Huddersfield - Lunt & Robinson/Wood
Warrington - Monaghan & Higham
Catalans - Henderson & Pelissier
Hull KR - Hodgson & Withers
Saints - Roby & Howarth
Hull FC - Houghton & Heremaia
Wakefield - Aiton & Wildie
Bradford - L'Estrange & Diskin
Widnes - Clarke & White
Cas - Clark & Milner
Salford - Godwin & Foran
London - Randall & Fisher
Not sure where Hood would fit in at any of those clubs really. They've all got an established first choice hooker that Hood wouldn't displace.

Ryan Bailey is a karmicheal Hunt.
The sooner that piece of sh*t is out of the club, the better. Gutted he's signed a new deal.

This of course is pretty irrelevant without understanding how many have been injured for periods, the fact that Howarth was signed after the season had started, and Wood wasn't at Huddersfield, and Fisher had to come out of retirement to help London.
You are talking about a highly rated player not just by the Leeds club but others.
Leeds should have been the ones pushing is availability out there, not the other way round. Look how many Wire players have been out this year.

It's not irrelevant because it shows an established first choice hooker at each SL club that is easily a better choice than an untried and untested Hood.
It also shows most of the SL clubs 2nd choice hookers to be a better choice than an untried and untested Hood.
Is a short term loan where he might play only a couple of games particularly better than playing every week at Hunslet?
I'd say a hooker needs a long term loan to help their development.
From that list (plus of course clubs have the option of using other players in that role) I'd say only Wakefield, Salford or London would have even been a possibility for a long term loan.

All three options better than playing at Hunslet, so what are you arguing over?
Funny how you quote the two Widnes hookers, yet That partnership was broken up by a loanee last year. Plenty of opportunity's for super league loans.

Well we've narrowed the entire league down to 3 clubs just from looking at their squads. Were any of those clubs in the market for a hooker? Considering 2 of them have let a hooker go on loan to another club this season you'd have to assume hooker isn't a priority for them. What makes you think the club have been lax in terms of Hood's development given the lack of SL opportunities for him?

And Widnes might be happy to take that player on loan again. Or they might not. A tad irrelevant when the player in discussion is Hood and not McShane.
Are there? How many hookers with only 5 SL appearances have been loaned to other SL clubs?

| I must have missed the queue of SL clubs lining up to sign Hood on the back of his performances at Hunslet this year. Absolute rubbish suggesting Leeds wouldn't have let him do the same as McShane this year.
The gnashing of teeth about Hood strikes me as another example of people getting upset because a player they marked for greatness simply isn't as good as they thought they'd be. Been there, bought the t-shirt.
