Let's see how the club performs financially in a year when it has neither of those to fall back on.

Even without final appearances this would still smack of a remarkably well run club...when professional sports clubs in all sports are losing money hand over fist.

Excellent result - but it shows how small our sport is when its biggest club has a turnover of <11m, this is what a big supermarket would turnover in a week.

"Fall back on"? I may have inferred something not intended but I don't think it's any coincidence that such a well run club reaches said finals with such consistent regularity. The modus operandi that leads to these results IMO also leads to those finals.

Interesting that the CEO is playing down the importance of reaching the Challenge Cup final. In days of yore it was reputedly worth around the half a million mark.

Take a Wembley appearance away and add the likely salary cap underspend and Leeds would probably be in to the red based on those figures, kind of ilustrates why the cap is not being extended. Makes you wonder how any club makes a profit in League but there again it's a sports club so they wouldn't be alone in that.

Given the value of their respective TV deals and average attendances, their turnovers are pretty much in line with what I'd expect in relation to ours TBH. I'd imagine their salary costs are a fair bit higher though.

Depends what Leeds (and Leicester) actually spend within the permitted cap but in a top Premiership RU club's case it's likely to be at least triple given their limit is set at around £4.5M compared to Leagues £1.65M.

My point was that no matter how dilligently you run your club, it's historically rare for a team to make both showpiece finals in the same year, never mind do it two years on the bounce.

It would be interesting to see how the accounts stacked up without the profit made from those events, and whether the club would be running at least at break even if it did endure a barren year without one.
