I've put Clarkson at loose becuase I think he would help shore up our left hand side inbetween Kallum and Bish, I know he does'nt offer as much going forward but he's a tackling machine. We all know that it's the pie's fav side to attack with carmont and richards.
I think the rest of the team picks itself, Kyle on the bench to offer more impact.
What do you think???

| Leuluai will return to the starting 13. Only question is over McGuire's replacement.
Either,
7 - Burrow 9 - Lunt....with Ward on the bench to play in the halves and Burrow push up to hooker if Lunt can't do the full 80.
Or,
6 - Ward 7 - Sinfield 9 - Burrow.....Lunt on the bench. This was the way we lined up at Wembley and didn't work too well really.
Either way I'm worried we'll see McDermott make a mess of his interchanges during the game (as he's done a few times before) as Ward will probably end up switching between a half back role and second row.

Clarkson won't start....and no doubt our esteemed coach will persist with Burrow as starting hooker, which will mean Bailey at LF and Ward in the halves. I bet ya

Watkins and BJB play right side for us, hence the usually discussion about teams attacking us down that side,,,, it is also on the preferred right hand pass side for the opposing teams.

I don't see the benefit of Ward interchanging into the pack.... he has skills but lacks go forward to play any substantial minutes at second row. we should concentrate on rotating the pack, start Lunt at 9, Burrows 7, Sinny 6 and see what foundation we get to play with. Using your first option as rotation with Ward if required

| Burrow ripped us apart in the semi final from hooker. I'd expect him to play there again tomorrow.

He did, and that is why McGuire missing this game is such loss.If we continue with Burrow at 9 then all kicking duties will be on Sinfields shoulders and he will become an easy target(Wire in cup final). Our balance is gone, which is why i would go Sinfield/Burrow as halves and start with the conventional dummy half in Lunt.
Hold Ward back on the bench and use him as needed when the game develops.

Burrow can rip you apart from 7 too, either by nipping into dummy half or taking it at first receiver.
I think we'll miss McGuires backing up a hell of a lot. Burrow does it, but not as well

| Alot rests on 2 areas for me, winning the ruck (to achieve a quick play the ball and lots of scoots from Burrow). Other general kicking game, pen them back and a quick line speed in defence.
Very similar to how we set up in the semi. Do the above well and we can be confident.

We need to win the ruck defensively as much as in attack. That's the area we've looked weakest in pretty much every time I've seen us play this year.

| Think we have an outside chance tonight but not feeling anywhere near as confident as when we played Wire last year.
Our chances could be lifted with the rumours that Tomkins may miss the game but its probably just that.

Indeed.
Get a few high kicks up, let's see if he's watching the ball or peeking at who's going to smash him.

| Not sure what the benefit is/would be of mind games. The only game plan you can really make for Sam Tomkins is to kick high, chase well and try to stop him before he gets going.
The usual thing to do with a stand-in full back is kick high to him and chase well. So probably the same tactics. Helps Leeds' cause if he doesn't play, but Wigan are still the better side on paper. Plus, how much training will we realistically be doing this afternoon? Hardly going to disrupt our preparations is it?
