Not really when they're in 'advanced' talks with a local business consortium.

The extension was probably necessary.

The RFL are doing all they can to avoid a lot of people becoming unemployed and a lot of fans having no team left to support.

Their patience while due dilligence is done has been commendable.

If I were a bulls fan I would be extremely concerned about some aspects of the so called consortium who are rumored to be interested in the club takeover.
Just look what happened to Leeds utd after a series of white knights came to the rescue.

If the Bulls were your firm you would want every avenue explored and as much time as was necessary to explore those avenues.

No RL fans wants the Bulls to disappear from SL - we should all have our fingers crossed for a positive outcome.

Unfortunately, the only effect of the extension I can see is that Guilfoyle will be getting paid for three more weeks.

Let's not forget the crowd (revenue) they bring to Headingley every time we play them.It could be a great loss all round if the bulls were to be lost from SL.

If I was of a cynical disposition, it might just cross my mind as to why such a concerned group of property developers could see the likeliehood of turning a profit in Bradford Bulls Rugby League Club.

And if I had a cheeky pound, I think it would be on The Bulls lasting 12/18 months under this lot before folding, due to......(insert suitable financial/political/sporting explanations) whilst these guys got on with their core business of property development......possibly on the back of a 999 year lease at Odsal.

You may not be far off here , the fact that this consortium will only go ahead if the lease is sold back and the bulls are gauranteed a place in super league is very telling . I can see a move to VP in the not too distant future .

As ever I think you're way off.

The owners in the long run of the stadium are Bradford council and they will be unlikely to overturn any existing sporting use covenants if it left the Bradford Bulls homeless. If alternative, viable, scenarios are presented that would be different - but the idea of this being some sort of asset stripping exercise is ludicrous.

a - They would only buy back the lease, the land would still be owned by Bradford Council so they would have to buy before they could develop on it.

b - I think I am right in saying (?) that Odsal is contaminated land due to it's past life as a tip so they wouldn't be allowed to build housing on it anyway.

You don't need to own the freehold in order to develop leasehold land.

property development doesnt just mean housing though , warehousing / distribution centres just off major motorway links could be very attractive indeed

OTOH you don't get planning permission from the owners to do what you like with the site.

Nor are wild assumptions of "asset stripping". It may have escaped your notice that assets in a Bradford Bulls stylee are a bit thin on the ground. How much is the scrap value of the Coral Stand these days? Not enough to get a group of property developers interested I suspect!
