| "Significant" player announcement, if Peter Smith wants any credibility, should rule out McShane/Lunt, or any contract extensions to already long contracts. So I'd wager about Webb staying/leaving.

CATALANS coach Trent Robinson wants Leeds full-back Brent Webb for 2013 — and not Hull KR’s Shannon McDonnell.
Robinson is after experience to replace Clint Greenshields, who is going back to Australia.
Webb, 32, a former New Zealand international with 17 caps, will complete five seasons with the Rhinos in October before crossing the Channel.
Leeds have a ready- made replacement in England prospect Ben Jones-Bishop.

| Unless we sign a "like for like" replacement then we'll see a different approach to our attack from next season then.
It's been great watching Webby and i wish him well but i guess time and tide wait for no man and the Rhinos will move on with someone much younger hopefully and from within the squad.

Amazing
Surely this must mean the end of Ambler and amor not returning either?
Out of the two,I'd have preferred Webb to stay and Kylie to leave and Amor to come back to replace Kylie
Underwhelmed on both bits of news to be honest.

| Absolutely gutted with Webb leaving. That is a major loss, bigger than Buderus. So much goes through Webby in attack and when he is missing we seem to lose shape in defence. It was only the other week that McDermott was saying he is one of the best players in the league right now.
However good news on Kylie. He's having another good season so far so why refuse a contract extension to a top performer just to try and blood one or two players that arnt really performing to the standard required at their loan clubs.

| Webbys departure isn't really a surprise and like i posted above i wish him well but we move on.
As for kylies exstention i just don't see what we get out of it ,true he's doing a decent job this year in what was supposed to be his final year but we have younger Props that are chomping at the bit to get a game and are clearly way above anything at U20 level.
Our front row next year will be doing the Wonga . com and Shreddies adverts they are that old and i think we should blooding younger players there.

| Here's the press release for you all-the things I do for you!!!!
World Champions Leeds Rhinos are already beginning plans for next season with the announcement that the 2012 campaign will be Brent Webb’s last at the club whilst prop Kylie Leuluai has agreed a contract extension having initially announced plans to retire at the end of the season.
Webb, who joined the Rhinos in 2007 from New Zealand Warriors, will make his 150th start for the club in Monday night’s much anticipated Grand Final re-match against St Helens at Headingley Carnegie but the club have confirmed that they have given the 31-year-old Kiwi international permission to speak to other clubs after he declined a one year contract extension offer from the Champions.
Leuluai, who leads the way this season for the Rhinos for average gains per carry, will remain at the Rhinos next season after agreeing a new deal. The 34-year-old has been in outstanding form once again this season and has played a big part in helping the Rhinos to become World Champions and get back to the Carnegie Challenge Cup semi final.
Commenting on the announcements, Chief Executive Gary Hetherington said, “Having had discussions with Brent, we understand he is keen to try and secure a two year contract in Super League for next season. We are not in a position to offer him that and therefore we have granted him permission to speak to other clubs about next season and beyond. Brent has been an outstanding player for Leeds Rhinos, one of the finest overseas players this club has ever had, and I am sure he will be doubly determined to finish his time at the club at the very top. He is a true competitor and regardless where he goes next season, he will always remain part of the Rhinos family.
“When Kylie signed his last contract his intention was to return home at the end of this season but we always spoke about reviewing the situation nearer the time and seeing how his body was coping with the demands of Super League. He has been at the top of his game this season and we were pleased to speak to him and agree a new deal. Leeds fans have always loved their prop forwards, especially those who set the tone for the team with their actions on the field, and Kylie is certainly in that company,” added Hetherington.
Commenting on the announcement, Webb said, “It was a very difficult decision to decide to move on from Leeds Rhinos at the end of the season but as a professional player you know that eventually that day will come. I have had some fantastic times here in Leeds, in my family’s life and not just on the rugby field however I will take all those memories with me when I move on. I have only ever played for two clubs in my life but time moves on. We have got a big job here to do this season and my aim now is to play my part in helping the team achieve our goals for this season.”

| Oh deary me. Webb must be wondering why he only gets a one year offer when others at his age are getting longer deals at the club. Add offering Leuluai another year to that list of baffling retention decisions. Are we getting Stannah and Sanatogen as sponsors next year?

| Leuluai is a poor decision - are we trying to break the record for the oldest starting props in the league?
Webb will be missed but it could be a blessing in disguise as we will have to change the way we attack - perhaps McDermott should get some videos of Melbourne to see how to set up attacking plays that result in scores. Or he could just sign Billy Slater

| Personally don't think Webb warrants a 2 year deal, he's lost a good yard of pace, he'd still do a job next season but another after that i'm not so sure.. I'm sure Leeds can spend his salary elsewhere.. however we must add to our attacking threat next season in his absence
