He just tweeted a picture of his new red hair with the caption 'crazy haircut for debut' I'm not exactly sure what debut he is referring too? Has anyone heard anything about him being picked for Saints? Or am I reading too much into this



On another note it will be quite comical to see the whole team together on sunday, their hair really is a bright red!

I have heard a very loud whisper

that Stevie Ward will make his first team debut from the bench on sunday.I believe that he will play in the halves either 6 or 7 when he comes on

IMO you have to applaud Brian Mac for giving our promising juniors a shot in the first team and regardless of who the opposition is, some coaches would not risk giving a young kid his debut away to Saints.

Interesting, I'd assume that means there is no place for Hood on the bench then as carrying Ward and Hood would surely make us too lightweight. I'm very excited about this kid though, if he impresses there could be some serious selection headaches ahead

I hope this is true. I like the look of the kid and would like to see him slowly integrated into the team over the course of the season. If the game is close though don't expect to see him on Sunday.

Can wait to see Ward in the first team - the kid has much potential as I've ever seen in a youngster.

It's not really a game that we can expect to be cruising in the last 10-15 minutes, or that we can risk playing with 16 men otherwise. So for me, if he's on the bench, he'll get game time.

It's happened this season already with McShane and to a lesser extent Hood, against Cas.

I know. At Cas we could reasonably expect to have the opportunity to bring Hood on at some point. We're a much stronger team than Cas, it was a good opportunity. As it turned out we couldn't bring him on until 5 minutes from the end as they were still in the game. The McShane example was different as in game circumstances dictated that he didn't come on.

In a game against Saints you don't voluntarily reduce yourself to 16 men.

I have been quick to complain....I need to be just as quick to praise if this is true.

It does seem Ward will take Hood's place.

Looking forward to seeing Ward, Hood and Singleton (& Chisholm maybe) commanding starting spots by the end of the season at the latest. Exciting times

I'm not sure they'll be 'commanding' a first team place (Hood might be), but I'm sure all 3 of them will have had a decent taster ready for more games next season.

Looking forward to seeing this. Seeing a player like Ward break through is more exciting to me than creaming over the next signing from the NRL.

With the way things are going right now, it may be a long time before any SL side signs an NRL player who is genuinely 'exciting'. The last one was Lyon, and that was for specific reasons anyway. It seems that most clubs are finally catching on to the new reality, and taking junior development seriously.

IF he does play i'm really looking forward to seeing him play at SL level because he's way above u20's standard imo in terms of quality ,skill and all round game.
Also IF all goes well but Mc doesn't want to get him into the regular 17 just yet it will hopefully lead to a dual registration in the Championship where he wil be tested more frequantly.

Looked forward to his debut, believe he should have been playing earlier. However, seriously have to question the coach as to why now. At least 3 games this year where he could and should have made his debut this year, so why make it so tough for him with this one.

Best of luck to the lad anyway, I only hope that if we lose Sunday, this particular player isn't made the scapegoat, with fans and coach alike.

1- maybe he's started to really show his quality in practice recently after settling into the first team, which is why he's not been selected earlier.
2- putting him in against saints sends a clear message of the coaches belief in him, great feeling as a player.
3- I can't believe you even put that the coach would use him as a scapegoat, yes he may not play the week after but that could even happen if all goes well on Sunday.
4- I'm glad team management and selection is not left to some posters on here,
utterly clueless.

I've seen him play a few times this year and he's always stood out as being noticably that bit better than most in the Under 20s.

He's a big, strong lad for a half back, and if there's a gap he'll more often than not go through it. Excited to see how he goes!

I'm going to have a grumpy whine about the silly red hair now aswell. Why not blue? Why go to a team that goes with the red colours, and do the same. No, no, not happy at all about it.
